Kafr Qassem, Israel
The opening scene of the series, the very first episode, was shot in Kafr Qassem in Israel. In the first episode, we are introduced to the main character of the series Doron. The scene where he comes out is filmed in Kafr Qassem itself. In the series, Doron’s house exterior scenes are filmed at a house in Kafr Qassem. All the scenes in the episode where we see the anti-base quarter is lensed at the same location only.
Other important scenes in the series first and second seasons have been filmed in West Bank also. This was a difficult location to shoot at, but the makers were able to get permission to do so from the Israel Government.
Gaza Strip, Gaza
Back in 2019, an Israeli newspaper published an article where it said that the shooting for the third season had begun in Gaza. Where on the one hand, the first and second season was filmed in Kafr Qassem, and the third season was filmed at a different location in Gaza. The shooting began in the 2nd week of February but was extended for a longer time due to unforeseen troubles that the production team faced.
What happened was that the dummy arms and ammunition that the team had for shooting and filming the scenes in the series were confiscated by the concerned authorities in Gaza. Then the legal team had to intervene and solve the issue. The shooting began after the goods were taken back by the team.
Another major restriction that the filming team had to follow was that they could not shoot after sunset.
Shooting was permitted only in the daylight. The team took around seven weeks to complete their shoot in Gaza, and after that, the other scenes were filmed in a studio in Israel. Fauda Season 4 was filmed in Hungary. Though it was initially meant to be filmed in Ukraine after the Russia-Ukraine war, the shooting location was shifted to Hungary.
