Denzel Washington returns to put his deadly set of skills to use one final time in Equalizer 3 as he searches for a life of peace in a place of bliss, the heart of Italy. Now, he is facing off against the local crime bosses and Mafia with even less time than before.
Denzel, now at the age of 68, the One Man Wrecking Crew for the Oppressed, joins the cast, which includes a reunion with Dakota Fanning from Man on Fire. And we also have Roy from The Office show, David Denman, to play a major antagonist.
Robert’s reality is he is out for vengeance, giving his rivals an in-depth breakdown of exactly what he’s going to do and how he’s going to do it. With the return of the director Antoine Fuqua, Equalizer 3 was released on 1 September 2023.
Equalizer 3 Review
I enjoyed both previous Equalizer movies. I think Antoine Fuqua is one of the best and most underrated directors working today. And, of course, Denzel Washington is one of my favorite actors of all time. So obviously, I was looking forward to seeing Equalizer 3, and I gotta say, I think this movie is better than the second part.
Both Equalizer movies are very violent, but the third part just might take the cake. It is so brutal and so gory. I was actually kind of surprised, even though I was expecting the gore.
This film, as well as the two previous ones, does something at this budget level and with this star and director power that is nowadays usually found in bargain bin straight to VOD action movies. And that tells a story about a man who just wants some peace and quiet. And the people who keep getting in the way of said peace and quiet. And then we watch him dispatch all of those people in increasingly violent ways.
The Equalizer movies are good because Antoine Fuqua is genuinely A masterful filmmaker. I would never dare to say that this trilogy is masterful, but I think that Antoine Fuqua knows exactly where to put the camera to maximize not just the violence but the character.
And Denzel Washington is always going to be incredible in everything that he does. This is not a person who usually does sequels, franchises, or film series of any kind. The fact that he’s come back for three of these and the fact that Antoine Fuqua still enjoys making them tells you that these guys really like what they’re doing. And you can see it on screen because Washington is still endlessly charismatic.
Equalizer 3 Filming Locations
Equalizer 3’s story takes place in Italy, and while most of the students use similar-looking locations to film the movie or show, Equalizer 3 just went on to the real location of Italy to film the scene for the movie.
Rome and Campania were used for the massive shoot. The huge Cinecittà Studios in Rome were used for interior filming, while the Amalfi town served as the movie’s primary shooting location. The movie started its filming in September 2023 last year, and everything was wrapped up by January 2023
The movie makes excellent use of its lovely settings, even staging several action sequences in a millennium-old church perched on a hill. In addition, the Mediterranean region’s beautiful vegetation and beaches provide a pleasant setting that stands out with the gritty action movie.
Italy
Italy turns out to be one of Washington’s preferred vacation locations. Fuqua says that he visits every year and that he also speaks a little Italian.
Several of the sequences for The Equalizer 3 were also filmed in Atrani, Campania. Atrani is a city in Italy located in the Campania region. Like Minori, it is a city on the Amalfi Coast. It is regarded as one of the smallest yet most charming villages in all of Italy.
The Equalizer 3’s on-location filming was primarily done in Campania, Italy. Although Sicily, Italy, served as the backdrop for the sequel, the actors and crew really filmed those sequences in Southern Italy. From October through December 2022, the production stayed put on the Amalfi Coast and around Naples before heading up toward Rome in January 2023 to wrap up principal photography.
