Alaqua Cox plays Maya Lopez, who is a Mohican and Menominee, born in the Choctaw Nation in rural Oklahoma. She walks on the steps of her father, Zahn McClaron, and becomes the harsh commander of the Tracksuit Mafia, New York City’s criminal organization.
Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, is a formidable criminal lord who raises Maya as his honorary uncle and boss. Upon reaching a disagreement, Maya declares war on the Kingpin’s empire and takes a stand in her little Oklahoman hamlet, forcing her to face her heritage and family.
The first two episodes of “Echo,” which have been hailed as a turning point for Native portrayal, make reference to the Choctaw origin narrative, highlight tribal customs like stickball, and use the Choctaw language often.

Where is the show set?
Tamaha, the rural Oklahoma settlement where the main character Maya Lopez lives, is the setting for most of the action. Tamaha is based on a genuine town in eastern Oklahoma that was once part of the Choctaw Nation.
Situated on the banks of the Arkansas River, Tamaha, Oklahoma is a tiny town in eastern Oklahoma, approximately one hour’s drive from Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Where is the show filmed?
Echo was recorded mostly in the US State of Georgia. Georgia’s unusual locations make it a popular filming site. Georgia was the location of several recent film shoots, including The Cloned Tyrone and Reptile.
Principal photography for the show took place in cities of Georgia such as Atlanta, Social Circle, Fayetteville, Grantville, and Peachtree City.
The main location for Echo’s photographs was Fayetteville. Atlanta is a well-liked shooting destination and occasionally the main site for several Marvel project shootings.
Scenes from well-known MCU films including Spider-Man: Homecoming and Captain America: Civil War were filmed in and around Atlanta.
Another place where sequences for Echo are filmed is Peachtree City, Georgia; one such scene has Maya going to a graveyard to grieve over a loved one. One of Peachtree City’s most well-known features is its golf cart culture.
Another spot where several shots from Echo were filmed is Social Circle, or the Great Walton Railroad Co. facility there.
Another place where Echo was filmed is Grantville, which is well-known for being the scene of AMC’s The Walking Dead filming. This was mostly for setting shots of the city, which were used in two of the show’s episodes.
Other Filming Locations
Marvel’s Echo features a stunning landscape that was painstakingly built through many locations throughout the Atlanta metropolitan region.
Every location in Georgia, from the congested streets of Atlanta to the breathtaking landscapes of Peachtree City, Social Circle, and Grantville, played a crucial role in the series’ visual narrative.
The majority of the primary filming was done at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia. However, the creative team ventured outside the studio to capture actual images in and around Peachtree City, as well as along the Great Walton Railroad near Social Circle, Georgia.
In addition, Bonny Castle and the Grantville Water Tower were selected as shooting locations. The performance seems more realistic and showcases Georgia’s breathtaking countryside by utilizing a range of venues.
The creative team had a difficult time finding locations that resembled Oklahoma, but they managed it skillfully.
Their visit to the Choctaw Nation provided them with helpful reference photos, which they used to identify locations in Georgia that would work for the story’s setting.
When was the show filmed?
Marvel’s Echo began filming in April 2022 and went till August 2022.
On April 21, 2022, principal filming for Echo got underway in Fayetteville, Georgia. Then, for 92 days, filming for Echo was completed on August 26, 2022.

Zahn McClarnon returns as Maya’s father, William Lopez, and Tantoo Cardinal plays Chula. Graham Greene plays Skully. Darnell Besaw will portray a younger Maya, and will also be a recurrent character in the mix.
