Drag Race has become a popular part of different cultures in modern times, with people enjoying healthy competition between them. Taking inspiration from a similar series titled RuPaul’s Drag Race, a Philippines version was created titled Drag Race Philippines, released on 17 August 2022.
Directed by Arnel Natividad, the series follows a similar pattern to the original one, with 12 drag queens entering the competitive reality series, where they compete in several challenges to emerge as the ultimate winner.
The series’ first season did well, thus the reason behind the renewal for a second season. The series’ second season is presented by Paolo Ballesteros and judged by Kalad Karen Jiggly Caliente, Rajo Laurel, BJ Pascual, and Jon Santos. Released on 2 August 2023, the current season’s contestants include Arizona Brandy.
Bernie, Captivating Katkat, DeeDee Marie Holliday, Hana Beshie, M1ss Jade So, Matilduh, OV Cunt, Veruschka Levels, Tiny DeLuxe, Astrid Mercury, and Nicole Pardaux. The contestants of the ongoing season are between the ages of 22-37, each determined to take the title home.
Drag has become increasingly popular in recent times and has been portrayed brilliantly in series like F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Some people still think drag isn’t something people of virtue do or enjoy. Recently, these drag queens have been making appearances at kids’ schools, thus causing an uproar amongst parents as they feel it isn’t something that needs an introduction to kids.
With everyone competing to take the title home, the viewers root for their favorite, to take the title home. Drag Race Philippness allows viewers to join their favorite drag queen on their journey. The title winner will get a crown to take home.

Drag Race Philippines Episode 3 – Recap
The third episode of Drag Race Philippines focuses on the drag queen participating in Lolapalooza Newspaper Dance, where the queens are paired to dance in hopes of winning the challenge prize money of P20,000.
Then the queen participates in the main challenge, where they had to create a look with the help of party supplies that is similar to their drag sister in hopes of winning 80,000. The third episode starts with KatKat’s entry in the series, which leaves DeeDee Marie a little disappointed because he feels that drama will ensue with her entry.
The drag queens discuss the elimination of Astrid Mercury. Jade is excited as she senses the rivalry between DeeDee and KitKat. The top ten are excited to introduce themselves to the guests who have arrived in the house to compete with them.
Captivating KitKat appears to be competitive and catty from the start, and other contestants talk about her nature of verbally abusing other contestants. The series host enters the house and motivates the contestants, and introduces them to their mini-challenge.
The drag queens are excited as they find the Lolapalooza Newspaper Dance easy. The queens get 15 minutes to get ready with their partners in their extravagant costumes. After getting dressed in their Lola, which means grandma in Philippines costumes, the queens have fun twerking and twirling to the tunes of the music.
Every time the music stops, the newspaper gets folded, and the queens avoid stepping on the floor to win the challenge. After four rounds, Jade and her partner emerge as winners of the competition, leading them to go against each other. At the end of the mini-challenge, Matilduh emerges as the winner.
Followed by the mini-challenge, the host introduces the queens to the guests, who are men with dreamy bodies that leave the queens breathless. The hosts introduced the queens to their next challenge, which involved the queens getting paired and creating a look with the same supplies as their partners.
As Matilduh wins the mini-challenge, she gets the advantage of pairing the remaining queens and deciding the supplies for them. Matilduh chooses Ovi to be her partner before assigning other queens their partners. Matilduh partners Veruschka with Arizona, KatKat with DeeDee, Jade with Bernie, and Tiny DeLuxe with Hannah.
In a twist, it gets revealed that the partners Matilduh assigned had to compete against each other instead of competing together. Each pair will end with one of the partners being safe and the other getting to the bottom at the end of the main challenge. The contestants get to make costumes with a guest judge keeping an eye on them.
At the end of the main challenge, DeeDee, Veruschka, Hana, Jade, and Matilduh came at the top while the remaining queens were at the bottom. Hana became the overall winner of the main challenge.
The bottom two contestants entering the lip-syn battle were DeLuxe and Arizona. Both queens went head to head before Arizona was announced safe while DeLuxe was sent home from the series. The series ends with DeLuxe’s parting words stating, “Girls, I Love You So Much! Tangina RUGIRLS!
Drag Race Philippness Episode 4 Preview
The upcoming episode of Drag Queen Philippines will witness the remaining queens taking up a mini and a main challenge following the series format. For the mini-challenge, the queens will have to perform a tinkling routine, i.e., a folk dance from the Philippines, and for the main challenge, the queens will have to perform a snatch game.
In the snatch game, the queens will have to impersonate a celebrity, and the one who does it the best will win the challenge. In the end, the episode will witness another lip-syn battle between the bottom two queens, followed by another elimination. It will be interesting to see which of the queens end at the bottom two.
Drag Race Philippness Episode 4 Release Date
Drag Race Philippness Episode 4 will come out for viewers to enjoy on Wednesday, 23 August 2023, at 9:00 P.M. Philippine Standard Time at HBO for locals. Each episode will have a run time of 1 hr and 30 minutes approximately.
HBO drops a new episode of the reality series on a weekly schedule, i.e., every Wednesday. The upcoming episode will be titled “Snatch” and will focus on queens impersonating another celebrity in the challenge.
