“Revenge is the air” is what it seems like since the South Korean Drama Delightfully Deceitful was released. Premiering on 24th May 2023, this Kdrama has managed to keep viewers glued to the screens with its suspense and amazing duo. Starring Chun Woo-Hee and Kim Dong-Wook as the main leads, the series is 9 episodes in, and 7 more are to come.
Now, there is plenty of content that the Korean industry keeps giving the audience, so making a choice might get difficult. So how does this one stand out? Firstly, the polar opposite personalities of the main characters steal the show. After all, who doesn’t like some opposite attracts theory of their favorite couple?
It is not out of those regular romance or revenge dramas with a mafia man and his naive love interest. The role reversal of what we see generally is what truly makes it delightfully deceitful.
The story is about a con woman Lee Ro Um, who has brilliance in making a living out of scams. Her stone-cold heart cares for none. She could do it all unethical but is accused of something heinous that she did not do: Killing her estranged parents. After ten long years, with the help of her lawyer Han Moo Young. Lee is determined to take her revenge for the false accusations.
Unlike the heartless lady Lee Ro Um is, Moo Young is a very patient and empathetic person who highly values his ethics. He tries his best to understand everyone a little better. Seeing someone in pain takes a toll not only on his mental but physical health as well.
When the duo joins hands to achieve their one common goal, which is revenge, they are at crossroads.
This cooperative drama goes beyond giving romance, comedy, action, and revenge all in one.
Delightfully Deceitful Episode 9 Recap
In the previous episodes, Ro Um and her companions faced some unpredictable events. Yo Han finds out about his mother’s contribution to Jeokmok Foundation, and Moo Young realizes about the main person who destroyed his family.
Episode 9 begins with Han Moo Young finding Ro Um safely and taking her back home. She questions if he saw the flash drive to which he agrees. She is bewildered why Moo Young is helping her despite being responsible for ruining his family.
Moo Young says he pities her and proceeds to ask Ro Um about the gun and if she killed Na Sa. She avoids conversation and later, Moo Young treats her wounds.
She leaves and asks her probation officer, Goes Yo Han, for the earliest train ticket, regardless of location. After she leaves, Moo Young asks for help from Reporter Woo and Prosecutor Ryu. The trio tries to find out the truth about JeokMok Foundation and Navis Wellbeing.
Meanwhile, Ma Kang Soo, the CEO of Dasura International, is released on parole from prison, putting Jang Kyung Ja in a difficult position.
In the following scenes, Reporter Woo reveals the marketing strategy of Navis Well-being to avoid bad reviews.
He also finds an anonymous blog that could help reveal the dark secrets of the company. Amidst this, Moo Young calls Ro Um to come back and help him in taking revenge.
Parallelly runs a story about a girl Ho Jung who was caught in debt due to the trap of Darusa International. She commits suicide, and that’s the victim mentioned in the blog that Reporter Woo found.
Jae In also finds out that Mrs. Shin, her professor, turned scholarship kids into criminals at Jeokmok Foundation, and the subject she studied was none other than Ro um.
In the last scenes, Ro Um returns to Moo Young. He asks her to work as a team for a better ending for victims with the condition that he will decide everything from now on. He informs her that she has already created a rift in Jeokmok.
