Re-emergence from a twenty-year hiatus: Adrian Lyne, the veteran filmmaker best known for his work on films like Jacob’s Ladder and Fatal Attraction, returns to direct the sensual thriller “Deep Water.” Despite their best efforts, Vic and Melinda Van Allen (played by Ben Affleck and the gorgeous Ana de Armas) remain hopelessly married. The marriage is constructed on the sand and is only held together by a perilous arrangement.
Malcolm McRae, one of Melinda’s ex-boyfriends, was found dead in the woods, and Vic is drawn into the investigation. Vic lies about his involvement in the case in order to get Melinda away from her present suitor. As the story progresses further down the rabbit hole, Vic finds himself confronted with a shocking revelation of his own. The town of Little Wesley serves as the backdrop for most of the film, and the suburban setting lends an intriguing element to the plot. It’s also possible that you’re wondering where the movie was shot. If that’s the case, then go ahead and do some more digging.
Deep Water Filming Locations
The filming of ‘Deep Water’ took place in New Orleans, LA. A release date for the film has not yet been set, although it is expected to be somewhere in the latter half of 2019. Even though the imaginary town of Little Wesley, Louisiana provided the perfect setting for the film’s actors and crew. Productions in the state can get tax exemptions of up to 40% on qualified expenses via a government-sponsored Motion Pictures Production Tax Credit scheme.
Louisiana has made a name for itself in the film business thanks to a credit scheme and a unique mix of cultures and architecture. While Jeannine Oppewall (who previously worked on films like ‘Catch Me If You Can and LA Confidential’) handled the production design, Eigil Bryld was in charge of the photography. The film’s locations will now be shown to you in detail.
New Orleans
Most of the filming occurred in and around the Louisiana city of New Orleans, which sits on the Mississippi River. The Urbania House. This is privately owned land in the Lower Garden Quarter of New Orleans, and is a significant filming location in the city depicted in the film. In the film, the Van Allens live in an old house that serves as a stand-in for their residence. The mansion has served as a filming location for ’12 Years a Slave’ and ‘Hell Baby,’ both of which were shot on location there.
French Quarter
In addition, the cast and crew traveled to different parts of the city to film critical scenes. These were then edited together. Photographs were taken on Frenchman Street and also in a local tavern in the French Quarter district. French, American, and African cultures are all represented in the city. The city’s peculiar character is due in large part to this melting pot of cultures. In New Orleans, you’ll find dynamic nightlife, historic buildings, and an active music scene. Take advantage of the city’s spicy local cuisine. Such as the tasty gumbo and the spicy jambalaya if you ever find yourself in the area.
