Pearl Abyss is finally increasing its development resources for DokeV, the colorful open-world creature-collecting adventure first announced in 2019. After years of limited updates, the studio has now confirmed that the game is targeting a release in the second half of 2028, giving fans a clearer idea of when they can expect to return to its vibrant world.
The timing follows the March 2026 launch of Crimson Desert, which had consumed much of the studio’s development resources for several years. With its latest major project now released, Pearl Abyss says resources are being progressively redirected toward DokeV. The company has also indicated that it plans to begin full-scale marketing for the game in the latter half of 2027, including hands-on demonstrations.
DokeV Development Is Accelerating After Crimson Desert
In its latest investor communication, Pearl Abyss explained that development staffing changes depending on where each project sits in its production cycle. The company did not provide a specific number of developers being moved to DokeV, but confirmed that resources are being shifted as Crimson Desert’s post-launch operations stabilize.

The studio said development is progressing smoothly by using the technology and production experience accumulated during Crimson Desert. Pearl Abyss has also said that DokeV has moved beyond its earlier development stages and is now focused on expanding content and validating its core gameplay loop.
DokeV was originally revealed in 2019 and later received a major gameplay showcase at Gamescom in 2021. The game is described officially as an open-world action-adventure centered around collecting Dokebi, whimsical creatures that gain strength from people’s dreams.
Pearl Abyss is deliberately holding back major reveals until development progresses further. According to the company, information releases and marketing will be aligned with its production milestones, while larger promotional efforts, including playable demos, are expected to begin around the second half of 2027.
This means fans may have to wait another year before seeing DokeV return to the spotlight in a substantial way. For now, the clearest milestone is its second-half 2028 release target, marking a significant shift from the game’s earlier expected timeframe.
