In the previous chapter of City of Arrogance, Asha goes to meet Carlisle, thinking that he had summoned her because of an important issue. Sadly enough, Carlisle really just looked like he wanted to spend some time with Asha for things other than work.

We all felt a little sad but excited for Carlisle because Asha looked thoroughly shocked and a little unenthusiastic. The two go and tour the palace, and Carlisle is a little taken aback by how desolate it looks. Well, Asha and the Pervaz family had their own circumstances, and the Pervaz territory is not exactly safe either.

Asha explains that the people there took anything they could and used it as firewood because of a fire that wiped out the trees nearby. Plus, they were not exactly in a position to spend a lot of money. It is a little sad thinking about how much the Pervaz family had gone through and given to the Empire.
