The story starts with the character Kotaki Yumeji, a high schooler who is trying to cope with a certain issue, and it is not an issue you will be familiar with. He has to help his 8 meters tall childhood friend, yes! 8 METERS tall. Her name is Oomine Chieri.
Chieri has recently transferred to Yumeji’s school. Yumeji calls her a childhood friend, but she had moved away in grade school, so it was a shock for him, too, when he saw Chieri after so long. Cherie wasn’t like this all the time, she was a normal kid, and apparently, Chieri got so big all of a sudden.
The government was covering all her needs, basically making all the normal-sized stuff into giant-sized so that Chieri could live a normal life. Chieri is a clumsy girl who keeps dropping her stuff here and there. Just imagine how bad it would be for you if a mountain-sized eraser or a phone fell on you.
Even though the government was providing all the essential materials for Chieri, she wasn’t really happy with it because it wasn’t the cute teenage girly stuff she wanted.
Being tall also had its bad parts, like people peeking up Chieri’s skirt. Thankfully, she had found a good way to deal with it, but even then, the group of teenage boys wouldn’t leave her alone. Yumeji steps in to help Chieri out with this, and when Chieri thanks him by picking him up in her hand Yumeji realizes she has just grown in size, but it is the same Chieri he had known when he was younger, and so he decides to always protect her. And thus begins school life with some elevation gaps.
Previously on Chieri’s Love Is 8 Meters Chapter 22: Recap
In the previous chapter, we saw Chieri’s attempt to teach Yumeji how to swim. Yumeji isn’t really a swimmer, and he is basically a rock when it comes to swimming, so he takes Sudoh-sensei’s advice and comes to the pool with Chieri for a swimming lesson.
It was really awkward for Yumeji to look at Chieri as the swimsuit was quite tight on her, and so was for Chieri too, but she tried to make a joke out of it to lighten the mood by teasing Yumeji that he couldn’t even look at her because she is so sexy.
Moving on, they did some stretching before they started swimming, and then they entered the pool. By this time, I guess everyone would have figured that for Chieri’s size, how small a normal pool would be. But still, she somehow manages to teach Yumeji how to swim. This gives Yumeji a flashback of their childhood, how in summers, both of them would use the inflatable pool in the yard almost every day and how fun it used to be.
They both had fun, it was a work in progress, but Yumeji had taken a step forward thanks to Chieri. They decide to go to a beach next time so even Chieri can swim. But wait, the story didn’t end there. We also saw that a new girl had entered the town and was planning to take some kind of revenge on Chieri.
Chieri’s Love Is 8 Meters Chapter 23: What To Expect From The Upcoming Chapter?
It was a fun evening for Chieri and Yumeji both, but little did they know that another giant girl had arrived in their city looking for Chieri. This new girl seems to be excited about meeting Chieri, but for some reason, she also seems scary. Who could she be? Is she a friend or a foe to Chieri? Hang on tight for the next episode of Chieri’s love is 8 meters to find out who this new girl in the city is and why she is here for Chieri.
