What more is there to say about Chicago Fire season 12 episode 4? It premieres on NBC next week. First and foremost, we should point out that the title of this story is “The Little Things,” which, above all else, simply reminds us of the ABC series A Million Little Things.
(Why did it have to end? We miss it.) Let’s just say that Firehouse 51 will be dealing with some fresh crises in the near future, and Stella Kidd may have one of the season’s most poignant tales.
How much longer will Julia be here? For the simple reason that she is this world’s embodiment of personal development, we find that intriguing. She has a lot of friends at the firehouse, even though we know that she wanted to find herself elsewhere!
Regarding Boden’s stepson, we often assume that this is just an opportunity to get a little additional insight into him from an outside perspective. Yes, we already know a lot, but it seems like a lot of work is being put into giving you a variety of character-focused spotlights throughout season 12, especially. That’s hard to be angry about, isn’t it?

In response to those season 11 cliffhangers, viewers have been eagerly awaiting news. To begin with, Taylor Kinney’s character Kelly Severide ran off to enrol in “the best arson investigation training show in the world,” but then he just vanished, leaving his firefighter wife Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) alarmed.
When we last saw “Mouch” (Christian Stolte), he was bleeding profusely from a domestic terror incident that required immediate emergency surgery. Has he been able to recover?
Viewers will see this episode from a different angle as Julia stays at Firehouse 51 for a few days. Tensions and emotions will undoubtedly run high as she fully immerses herself in the world of these devoted firefighters.
That’s not all, though. James, Boden’s stepson, returns and begs Boden to assist his mother. As Boden struggles to decide how to best support his loved ones, family ties are put to the test. In addition, a young girl who lights a fire in her backyard in an apparently innocent incident takes a sinister turn.
“There have been big changes, and the 51 group is on a rollercoaster ride during the episode as they navigate all of it,” showrunner Andrea Newman confirmed regarding the upcoming season.
