Network TV still has some life left, and CBS’ show Tracker proves this. After a successful first season, Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw will be back for the new season. The actor from This Is Us plays a crime-solving survivalist who helps both law enforcement and ordinary people.
Jensen Ackles, known for his role as Colter’s brother Russell, added even more excitement to the series in the first season. CBS recently shared details about what fans can expect from the second season, which is set to start this fall. The premiere episode of Season 2 is called “Out of the Past” and will focus on Colter’s next mystery.
“While investigating the unusual disappearance of a family whose car was found abandoned on a road in the backwoods of Arkansas, Colter makes a shocking discovery about the mother’s past that leads him into the world of organized crime. Also, Reenie starts her new law firm and asks Velma for help in setting it up.”
The Season 2 premiere will air on October 13, on CBS.
Changes in Tracker Season 2
CBS has also released new images to go with the episode’s summary. Photos show Colter in different poses next to his black truck and walking down the street. Other characters are shown, including Fiona Rene’s Reenie Greene in her office and Abby McEnany’s Velma Bruin.
However, Robin Weigert, who plays Abby’s wife, Teddi, is not shown. Tracker previously announced that Weigert will not return for Season 2, which surprised many. Weigert is known for her roles, including Calamity Jane in HBO’s Deadwood and a recurring role in FX’s Sons of Anarchy.
Even though she won’t be in the new season, the show will continue. Showrunner Elwood Reid mentioned to TVLine that the new season will focus on Velma in a new and interesting way, something hinted at in the final episodes of Season 1.
While Weigert’s departure is disappointing, there are still many exciting aspects to look forward to. Velma’s larger role is a positive change, and Ackles’ return, despite his involvement with The Boys spin-off, Vought Rising, is another highlight.
Ackles said he will be back in Season 2 to create more drama. Fans can see all this and more when Tracker Season 2 premieres on CBS on October 13, at 8 pm EST.
