Monster Hunter Wilds has struggled to maintain its initial sales momentum following its blockbuster launch, but Capcom believes its upcoming content and Nintendo Switch 2 release are helping the action RPG attract renewed interest. During its FY2026 second-quarter financial results Q&A, the publisher revealed that the game sold approximately 800,000 units during the first half of the fiscal year.
According to Capcom’s latest figures, Monster Hunter Wilds had reached 11.8 million sales by June 30, 2026. The newly disclosed figure indicates that the game added approximately 400,000 units during the following three months.
Switch 2 Release and Ascendance Expansion Boost Sales

Capcom attributed the improved sales momentum to several developments, including the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 version, the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion, and pricing adjustments.
The company explained that these measures helped improve sales and increase concurrent player numbers. Capcom also plans additional promotional campaigns to expand the game’s audience over the coming months and years.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version launches on December 4, 2026, with a free Prologue Demo already available. Players can transfer their demo progress to the full game.
Despite its strong launch, Monster Hunter Wilds experienced declining interest due to performance problems, difficulty concerns, and limited endgame content. Subsequent updates have introduced additional monsters, quests, and gameplay improvements.
Capcom is also preparing Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a major expansion scheduled for 2027 across platforms. Its arrival could provide another opportunity to revive interest in the game.
