Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially revealed the first major expansion for Code Vein II, titled “Mask of Idris,” bringing a new narrative-driven chapter to the action RPG. The DLC introduces a time-altering storyline set within the mysterious Forsaken World, where players once again manipulate time and traverse shifting realities.
The expansion is now available for purchase and is also included in the game’s Deluxe and Ultimate Editions. It continues the game’s core themes of survival, memory, and humanity while expanding its post-game experience with new regions and enemies.
Set after the main campaign, Mask of Idris requires players to have reached the “Luna Fraterna” ending and completed the sub-mission “Valentin’s Request” before accessing its content.
Forsaken World Brings a Collapsing Timeline to Life
The new DLC introduces the Forsaken World, a fragmented dimension formed from the emotional remnants of erased timelines. According to Bandai Namco, this space exists as a convergence point where “worlds that vanished due to historical alterations” continue to influence reality.
At the center of this unstable dimension lies a massive swirling structure that continuously absorbs emotions across time and space. This phenomenon now threatens to destabilize both alternate and real-world timelines, setting the stage for a new conflict.
Players will also encounter Liv Voda, a key character described as a guardian of time and space with a complex and combative personality. Her role is expected to play a major part in the expansion’s narrative direction.
New Post-Game Content and System Enhancements
Mask of Idris is designed as a post-game expansion, focusing on high-level exploration and advanced combat encounters. It builds on Code Vein II’s core mechanics, including Blood-based abilities, strategic “Blood Codes,” and weapon-based combat using Jails.
The expansion also integrates seamlessly with the game’s broader progression system, encouraging players to revisit endgame content with enhanced builds and abilities.
Alongside the DLC, Bandai Namco is releasing Free Update Version 2.0, which introduces additional improvements and expanded partner-based gameplay options. While full details are still forthcoming, the update is expected to enhance exploration and companion interactions across the game world.
Gameplay Systems Continue to Evolve
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, Code Vein II continues to build on its action RPG identity with a strong emphasis on customization and tactical combat. Players can freely design their Revenant Hunter with extensive customization options, including body structure, facial features, hairstyles, and accessories.
The sequel also introduces a Partner System, allowing seamless switching between combat styles, adding flexibility to battle strategies. Players can also interact with key locations such as hot springs, which offer unique visual environments and Photo Mode opportunities for character capture.
These systems continue to evolve with the new expansion, reinforcing the game’s focus on personalization and adaptive combat.
