Season 2 of Call Me Mother features a new generation of famous children who are eager to shake what their mothers have handed them. The second season of OutTV’s reality competition series features a 15-strong cast of Canadian drag queens, kings, and nonbinary performers, as well as returning house mothers Miss Peppermint (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Crystal (RuPaul’s Drag Race UK), and legendary performer Barbada de Barbades to oversee the contest.
One of the queens refers to herself as the “fashion slut princess of Toronto,” while another works as a daytime television weather reporter. Miss Peppermint, Crystal, and Barbada will reign supreme in their respective drag houses as they compete for a $25,000 check from Freddie, a year’s worth of Rimmel cosmetic supplies and Wella hair products, a seven-night trip to Mexico, and the opportunity to become the face of Wella at Toronto’s 2023 pride event.
“The first season of Call Me Mother exceeded all expectations,” OutTV COO Philip Webb stated in a statement. “Even more amazing drag artists applied for the second season, and we are thrilled that the series will provide a platform for all varieties of drag to thrive, regardless of how they identify,” the creators of the show add. Toddy, a Vancouver-based artist, won Miss Peppermint’s House of Dulcet in Season 1 in December 2021.
The Drag Queens possess three properties in the episode. House of Dulcet, led by drag star Peppermint, is the first. Another possibility is Crystal’s House of Glass. Barbada de Barbades is the leader of the House of Harmonie. Other drag queens who have previously won competitions on RuPaul’s Drag Race and have been on television as aunties provide participants further advice on how to win the show this time around, depending on their own set of characteristics.
In addition to the housewives, Dallas Dixon of Entertainment Tonight Canada will host the event when it returns later this year. “The first season of Call Me Mother exceeded all expectations,” OutTV COO Philip Webb stated in a statement.
Season 2 of Call Me Mother begins on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 9 p.m. ET on OutTV.com, the OutTV Apple TV channel, the OutTV Prime channel, and The Roku Channel, where accessible. See below for an exclusive cast announcement from EW.
