A wildly unconventional new boomer shooter has arrived on Steam, combining old-school FPS gameplay with the chaotic aesthetic of Brazilian bootleg games and mods from the 2000s. BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4: DEMONS FROM THE PORTAL TO HELL I OPENED ARE STILL IN THE FAVELA AND NOW I HAVE TO SAVE MAMADAS FROM RONALDO launched on September 16, 2026, from Brazilian developer Joeveno and publisher NoQuarter.
The game is a standalone expansion of BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3, continuing the franchise’s deliberately absurd take on retro first-person shooters. It has already attracted more than 70,000 wishlists ahead of launch, making its release notable for an indie project built by a small team.
Priced at $4.99 USD/EUR, the game is also available with a 10% launch discount for its first two weeks. Its design draws heavily from Quake, Brazilian culture and the era of unofficial PS2 games and PC mods.
Brazilian Drug Dealer Before 4 Brings 90s FPS Action to a Brazilian Setting
BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4 is built using id Tech 2, the same engine associated with the original Quake. The result is a fast-paced, ultraviolent FPS focused on movement, combat and exploration rather than modern shooter conventions.
The campaign contains 18 maps, while the complete game features 32 maps across campaign, horde and deathmatch modes. Players travel through locations inspired by Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador, Hell and even Heaven, with secret areas encouraging exploration and experimentation with the game’s movement mechanics.
The arsenal contains 13 weapons, many of which lean heavily into the game’s comedic Brazilian theme. Weapons include a flip-flop, berimbau, coconut-shooting payphone, money paper airplane gun, feijoada slingshot and a chimarrão flamethrower.
Movement is similarly exaggerated, with double jumping, dashing and rocket jumping allowing players to reach hidden areas. The game also includes a skate level, adding another unusual twist to its campaign.
The enemies continue the game’s intentionally chaotic approach, ranging from armed demons and zombies to Brazilian truck clowns and possessed singers. Other encounters include motorcycle-riding enemies, angry television mascots and possessed soccer team mascots.
Multiplayer and Workshop Support Expand the Retro Shooter
The game supports multiplayer through Steamworks, allowing players to participate in cooperative play and deathmatch across all maps. Friends can join through Steam invitations without requiring traditional port forwarding, making multiplayer setup considerably simpler.
Workshop support also gives the game additional potential beyond its launch content. This fits with Joeveno’s broader interest in retro game development and his goal of introducing Brazilian culture to international audiences through games.
The story follows the aftermath of the previous game’s demonic invasion. After saving Mit Aia, Mackie Jackie and the Mamadas, the protagonist’s celebration in Heaven is interrupted when the Mamadas are kidnapped by Ronaldo McDalest.
Players must rescue them and their Globeceta portal-opening car while dealing with demons left behind by the invasion. The resulting journey takes players across several Brazilian locations before the remaining supernatural threats can be eliminated.
Joeveno, a Brazilian developer, YouTuber and musician from Rio de Janeiro, created the BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER franchise as a way to celebrate his culture while experimenting with retro development technology. BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4 continues that approach by blending Brazilian music, internet humor, bootleg-game aesthetics and classic FPS mechanics into one deliberately unconventional package.
