Ghost of Yōtei’s New Complete Edition Generates Over $2 Million as Daily Active Players Peak at 327,000 Following October Update

PlayStation's updated edition combines the base game with new content, while October's expansion and game mode helped daily active players surpass 327,000, according to Alinea Analytics estimates.

Ghost of Yōtei has continued to generate sales for PlayStation following the launch of its new Complete Edition on October 1, 2026. According to estimates from gaming analytics firm Alinea Analytics, nearly 50,000 players purchased the digital-only Complete Edition in a little over two weeks, generating more than $2 million in revenue.

The sales milestone arrives as the samurai action game continues to perform well despite limited discounts and a crowded release calendar. The new edition bundles the base game with additional content, giving new buyers another way to experience the latest entry in Sucker Punch Productions’ open-world franchise.

The reported sales figure specifically concerns the digital Complete Edition. It does not include every copy of the original game or establish the total number of players who purchased the new content through the upgrade option.

According to Alinea Analytics’ October 16 report, Complete Edition sales were broadly consistent with the digital sales trajectory of the previous base edition during the third quarter of 2026. This suggests that the new package has maintained the game’s existing commercial momentum rather than necessarily producing a dramatic sales surge.

WHAT BUYERS GET WITH THE NEW EDITION

Sony priced the digital Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition at $69.99, replacing the standalone base-game listing in the US digital storefront. Existing owners can instead purchase the Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99 to access the two major additions.

The first major addition is Echoes of Sekigahara, a story expansion that explores Atsu’s past through flashbacks to the Battle of Sekigahara. It also introduces Nagato, a new area to explore, additional enemies, weapons, armor sets, and other rewards.

The second addition, Most Wanted, introduces a single-player combat survival mode inspired by roguelike games. Players take on increasingly difficult bounties, build their characters through perks, and unlock additional playable characters. The mode also features Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima, giving longtime fans another reason to return to the franchise.

The Complete Edition also includes Ghost of Yōtei Legends, Digital Deluxe Edition content, additional cosmetics, photo mode stamps, and new trophies. Sony released the package alongside the game’s October 1 content update, although some features and content are available to existing owners through the upgrade or free patch.

OCTOBER UPDATE BRINGS PLAYERS BACK TO GHOST OF YŌTEI

The Complete Edition’s launch coincided with a notable increase in player activity. Alinea Analytics estimates that Ghost of Yōtei averaged around 150,000 daily active users during the two months before October 1. Following the release of the new content, daily active users climbed above 300,000, reaching a peak of 327,000.

The analytics firm estimates that more than 6% of the game’s player base returned to experience the update. This increase suggests that the new expansion and combat mode helped revive interest in the game, even as major releases competed for players’ attention.

The update also comes as Ghost of Yōtei approaches 5.5 million copies sold and an estimated $407 million in revenue from game sales. Alinea estimates that the title sold another 500,000 copies in the third quarter of 2026, generating nearly $30 million.

Despite the Complete Edition’s early sales milestone, the data does not establish that the new package has accelerated the game’s sales trajectory. Alinea says its digital sales performance was broadly consistent with the previous edition’s third-quarter trajectory. Nevertheless, the combination of nearly 50,000 new digital edition sales and a substantial return of active players gives PlayStation another positive result for its PS5 exclusive.
