David Paul Brown, or as fans call him, Boyinaband, is a done-it-all who describes himself as a musician, singer, rapper, and most importantly, a YouTuber. He has collaborated with many successful fellow YouTube community members, including PewDiePie, iDubbz, TheOdd1sOut, Dan Bull, and so many more.
He has put out songs for his fans and subscribers in a variety of genres like electronic, hip-hop, and heavy metal, even producing and writing a lot of them. He was also involved in DJing and instrumentalism at the time he was active in the industry. His YouTube channel kicked off first as a way to promote his band called You and What Army, though it eventually turned into a full-blown job for him with a wide variety of content, including skits, tutorials, reviews, and a lot of other fun things.
He still continued to put out music, releasing a song called Don’t Stay in School, which received much criticism for what people thought would be the effect of the title on young impressionable kids. He released another song, this time a diss track for a done-and-dusted YouTuber, Ricegum, in which he called him the “Asian version of Jake Paul.” The song was called out for being outright racist.
His song Spectrum was released in support of the LGBTQ+ industry. He also collaborated with PewDiePie and RoomieOfficial to put out another diss track called Congratulations, which was loaded with sarcasm and commentary on T-Series’ past controversies, all the calling out the Indian caste system.
This song was put out when T-Series had surpassed PewDiePie in its total number of subscribers, and it ended up charting at number 1 on Billboard Comedy Digital Track Sales Chart. While his previous songs and videos ended up being either outright scandalous or perfectly normal, Boyinaband finally managed to land himself a bigger controversy.
Boyinaband’s Controversy
The YouTuber has been absent from the YouTube community and has not posted a single video since sometime in December 2019. And while he has been absent, a bunch of girls, apparently his ex-girlfriends, accused him of grooming, hebephilia, sexual coercion, emotional and physical abuse, and drug use.
These are just allegations that the girls made in September 2022 that have not been proven, and the YouTuber, Boyinaband, has not commented on them either. Rumors of him having allegedly groomed his younger subscribers spread quickly, with a group of girls claiming to have been in a relationship with him in the past also revealing that he used to pester them for money.
The girls accused him of exploiting them financially, also telling the world that he dated a fan who was only seventeen years old, a minor when he was twenty-three years old himself. All of these allegations were mentioned briefly in a letter that was sent to the Brown family and uploaded on Boyinaband’s Reddit page.
The girls maintained their anonymity and said that they had wanted to deal with the entire messy matter privately, but they found themselves without a choice. And in hopes of getting justice and getting other silenced victims to come out, they made the letter public.
The letter also went on to accuse Brown’s family of allegedly enabling Brown to abuse and manipulate young minors. It accused him of forcing them into doing whatever he wanted and that whenever they refused, he would get rid of them and get a new one.
The letter also talked about his alleged unhealthy addiction to porn and watching young women dressing up as kids. It also claimed that he used to force young girls into being skinny and thin and to be open to being in an open relationship so that he could be with other young girls.
While we only ever got to hear the side of these ex-girlfriends and never even got a single word from the man of the hour himself, it is suspicious that the letter was taken down in October just like that. No reason was given as to why the letter was removed from the site, and the internet seemed to have moved on.
Another strange thing many noticed was that the letter was posted in hopes of getting more victims to come forward, but none really did. Brown also never responded to the allegations, which forced many to look at the other side of the coin, to wonder if maybe the allegations were fake after all. But since there has been no real update on the matter, it continues to remain unsolved.
