The reality series on Discovery that follows the lives of people who risk life and limb in dangerous settings to extract gold is a big hit. The network could never have predicted that these unscripted episodes would become ratings gold mines. That is also the case with Bering Sea Gold Season 17.
This season follows Chris McCully, Mr. Gold, and Kris Kelly as they race across the icy, frigid, and dangerous waters of the Bering Sea with their team and equipment in quest of precious metals. There’s a conflict between egos and drama. The unexpected incidents, equipment faults, and issues with permissions and authorities make this a worthwhile watch.
Bering Sea Gold is real; it’s like suspense but better. When you put on diving gear and search for gold nuggets in almost freezing conditions, waves, and riptides smash your crew’s boat, and that’s just part of the issue. Because you have to carefully navigate back to port if you are successful in retrieving the gold. Everyone is gripped to the very end by this thrilling adventure!
Plot Of The Show
The Industrial Revolution brought about daring inventions and astounding wealth, and it profoundly altered American society. In Nome, Alaska, the spirit persisted and flourished until Shawn Pomrenke transformed offshore gold mining.
Everyone in Nome went diving from the suction dredge because he thought there were millions of ounces of gold at the bottom of the Bering Sea. To pump up the material from the ocean floor and filter out the gold, they send a diver down into the water equipped with a hose.
Shawn Pomrenke used creative thinking to outsmart his rivals by mounting an excavator on a barge. Subsequently, he dubbed it the Christine Rose, and it brought him immense wealth, surpassing anyone’s lifetime earnings.
Later, he redesigned his Myrtle Irene. They were headed to establish their next gold empire, and it grew to be the biggest excavator dredge on the Bering Sea. All the miners were unleashing a new wave of innovation because, to get the gold, they had to find bigger and better equipment.
All of the crew were ushering in another industrial revolution; Kris and others were moving towards the next level, and they could feel that they were going to get rich with the amount of money they were going to make.
Bering Sea Gold Season 17 Episode 3: Recap
There was a lot of exciting, high-stakes, high-tide, high-seas action in this episode. Chris McCully set off with his three-person team and equipment for a fifteen-hour dive in subfreezing conditions.
For the group, nothing was simple at all. Scary waves, and happily, no mishaps or malfunctions with the equipment, but we could see how nervous Kris Kelly was as the waves smashed into the boat and began to fill it with water.
In the meantime, Emily and Vernon set out to find eager, inexperienced divers who were willing to learn. They were enthusiastic, showed them the ropes, and had great hopes. However, in this episode, no gold was discovered.
In the end, Mr. Gold can return to Myrtle Irene and fix her up so that she is prepared for the hardships that the Bering Sea presents.
