What happens when you take all the rejects, villains, and outcasts from both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, make them mingle, and see if they can take a second shot at love? You get Bachelor In Paradise, a show also developed by the producers from those successful franchises and gives them another shot in the spotlight.
This season, we have a bunch of characters that got either sent home in the most humiliating ways, had a bad engagement, or are simply outrageous.
So, with broken hearts and the hots for one another, the season kicked off with introductions that went from normal to blatantly ridiculous, as you’ll see in our recap. One thing is for sure: this season, one couple will actually get married on the beach this season.
But while we get there, let’s get some information on the participants and give you a few details regarding the show. That way, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying this reality dating show.
Bachelor In Paradise Season 9 Episode 1 Recap
The season kicks off with a montage of Irene Cara’s “What a Feeling” and many participants getting ready, from working out to choosing what they’re going to pack. There are even some water choreographies to evoke Flashdance. Then Jesse Palmer welcomes the audience to the show.
We begin with Rachel, who feels bad about an engagement that didn’t work out, and she’s looking for a second shot at love. Then comes Brayden from Charity’s season of The Bachelorette. After a recap of his bravado, yoga skills, and dress style, we’re presented with Zach’s season of The Bachelor, Kylee, who got the boot via video.
Aaron introduces himself by playing a keyboard on the beach and walks on the beach holding that gigantic Yamaha as though it were a surfboard. Then, Mercedes from Zach’s season goes all country on us, wearing boots and a bikini on top of a tractor. Sean, from Charity’s season, presents himself as a Ken doll… enough said. The dude has a high opinion of himself.
Jess from Zach’s season, the glitter girl, is also here, and she’s feeling like she wants to get a second shot of love. Will, from Michelle’s season, has about the most normal intro a dude can have in this reality show, but that paved the way for Brooklyn, in a white bikini, who says she’s going to rope her a man this summer, and actually uses a rodeo rope to showcase her rope skills.
Kat from Zach’s season says she wants to take it easy, but she’s more focused on getting used to the weather. From Claire’s, Katies, and others seasons, Blake pops out of a bush. Dude is a textbook bachelorette reject, but he still wants to find the right girl.
One by one, they are greeted by Jesse, and then, the participants head to the beach to mingle and talk to each other. They share with each other, and the interests start to pop out as several of them have their eyesight on each other.
After the party, it’s time to go to bed, and the show kicks off. With several people going out on dates, others trying to get some others, but the game is on!
