Amazon Games has confirmed that Tomb Raider: Catalyst has been delayed and will now launch sometime in 2028, extending the wait for Lara Croft’s next original adventure. The announcement follows the recent postponement of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, meaning both of Amazon’s major Tomb Raider projects have now missed their original release windows.
The updated launch window was revealed by Amazon Games Vice President Jeffrey Gattis during an interview with The Game Business, where he discussed the company’s long-term publishing strategy.
Jeffrey Gattis confirms Tomb Raider: Catalyst’s new release window
Speaking about Amazon’s growing games portfolio, Gattis outlined the release plans for the two Tomb Raider titles.
“We’ve obviously announced the two Tomb Raider titles: Atlantis comes 12th February next year and then we’ll follow on in 2028 with the next one.”
The comment confirms that Tomb Raider: Catalyst, previously expected in 2027, has officially been pushed back. The game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and will take Lara Croft on a brand-new archaeological adventure set in India for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The delay comes during a challenging period for the franchise. Earlier this year, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a ground-up remake of the original Tomb Raider, was moved to February 12, 2027.

Crystal Dynamics has also experienced multiple rounds of layoffs in recent months, while Amazon’s live-action Tomb Raider television series temporarily halted production after lead actor Sophie Turner suffered a back injury before filming later resumed.
Despite the setbacks, Amazon continues to position Tomb Raider as one of its biggest gaming franchises following its publishing partnership with Crystal Dynamics. With Legacy of Atlantis arriving first in 2027, fans will now have to wait until 2028 to experience Lara Croft’s next completely original adventure.
