Alert: Missing Persons Unit is a procedural drama that takes place in the Missing Persons Unit (MPU) of the Philadelphia Police Department. Detectives Jason Grant and Nikki Batista lead a thrilling, life-or-death hunt for a missing person in each episode.
Their task, along with the MPU team, is to locate the missing or kidnapped individuals and bring them back to their families. Having lost their own little son, Jason and Nikki, who were once married, have a very personal connection to these stories.
Their marriage collapsed due to the emotional toll their son’s absence took, yet despite their separation, their relationship endures.

A fan of Benjamin Franklin vanishes on one of his mysterious city tours, prompting the MPU to look for him. Diana Bang, a guest star, has been hired as a new forensic scientist, and the crew is attempting to control her overzealous work attitude.
As new partners, Jason and Mike attempt to get along. Now that Nikki is in charge of MPU, she and her staff help people do what she was unable to do for herself: they return a loved one home.
Her fiancé Mike Sherman, whom Nikki first met when he was tasked with supervising the search for her son, Kemi Adebayo, a spiritually astute detective with an incredible amount of knowledge, and forensic anthropologist C (repeated guest star and newcomer Petey Gibson), an expert at reconstructing the faces of the vanished, are among the highly skilled team members she leads at MPU.
