Football, hockey, and mixed martial arts are also all prominent sports that aim to strike a balance between talent and savagery. The Power Slap League, on the contrary hand, is made up of men punching each other in the face.
The new “sport” is the focus of TBS’s current show, Power Slap: Road to the Title. There’s a fighting technique that resembles us of The Ultimate Fighter, but in its rawest, most absurd, most vicious form. It’s reality television on a shoestring budget.
Except for the sexual content, Power Slap: Road to the League title is a standard reality program. The first episode features a diverse set of contenders, and host/slap instructor Dana White and his staff keep a close watch on them as they limit the field down to a handful who will live in the same house, train together, and compete for a title. It might be a food show, a celebrity engagement, or a singing contest. However, it is smacking. There was plenty of slapping going on.
Power Slap Recap
Seven Program 1 candidates were approved, as well as the remaining roster spots will be filled on tonight’s program. Let’s start with both the big guns. Ayjay Hintz in grey, Frank Holland in blue. They both survive the first round. Round two has begun. Hintz wins through TKO in the 3rd round.
Combat at the bantamweight weight class. Michael Smith (in blue) is a re-invite from the first episode. Paul Teague is wearing a grey suit. They complete the first. Teague goes first in the following round, knocking Smith down but fouling and losing a point. Smith responds with a TKO.
power slap: the road to the titleThe middleweight division follows. Mike Webster in blue, Emanuel Muniz in grey. Mike gained the wager but chose to go second for some reason… and Muniz had the first blow knockout. This isn’t football, man. Don’t surrender.
We’re now getting into heavyweight territory. Mitchell Sipe from The Ultimate Fighter is in grey, while Kody Hrastnick is in blue. Sipe wins the coin toss and takes advantage of the chance to go first. The initial hit is the winner.
Returning to the welterweight division. Alex Asbury wears a navy shirt and reappears from Episode 1 after missing it due to a major cut on his lips. Grey Waylon Frost. Frost is the initial one to be defeated. Asbury loses one score for stepping.
After Frost constantly communicates for a stepping violation on a knockdown, Alex is not able to continue. He is, however, beaten by DQ. Interesting options. If the boxer hears a foul, he has the option of staying down and winning.
Because Asbury has been medically detained by the commission, Dana White has decided to let Waylon enter the home instead of Asbury. That’s a little strange. It’s now time for the outcasts to shine. Danny Robles is dressed in grey, while Russel Rivero is dressed in blue.
Rivero was punched in the first round, but the hit was illegal. Thus, he was disqualified. However, although Robles had been brutally beaten, he was also suspended, and Rivero was escorted to the apartment.
The big guns will take to the stage. Travis Aragon (blue) & Travis Kennedy (grey) reprise their Episode 1 roles. Both players have completed round one. The second round of begun. The third installment is now available. The judges give it to Kennedy by a 3-2 vote.
Once again, light heavyweight. Isaiah Quinones is shown in blue, and Nicolae Solcoci is shown in grey. Solcoci won the opening round by KO. We’ve already proceeded to the coaches’ selection of squads. A few persons are denied entry due to weight class numbers.
Darius flips a coin and chooses Mitchell Sipe first. Ryan Phillips will portray Wolverine. We’re now moving at breakneck speed, and I’m struggling to keep up with both orders.
