Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin began a new era for the Pretty Little Liars universe, and there’s a lot to look forward to in the spinoff, guess it depends on its renewal status. Though set within the same universe, the show from maker Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa centers on a new group of individuals in the fictional town of Millwood, Pennsylvania. Of course, the evil “A” character frightening a group of teenagers was a significant element that was included in the HBO Max spinoff.
Before HBO Max took a chance on Original Sin, the original Pretty Little Liars series ran for seven seasons and gave rise to two unsuccessful spinoffs. The story, which centers on the characters Noa Olivar, Tabby Haworthe, Faran Bryant, and Mouse Honrada, ties together the mysterious “A” and an incident that happened to a teenager named Angela Waters in the late 1990s. When the gang learns that their respective moms were involved in Angela’s sad death, the mystery becomes even more complicated.
It is revealed at the end of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season 1 that the mothers, specifically Imogen’s mother Davie, were to blame for Angela’s death. Archie, Angela’s twin brother, who went after the girls and their mothers, is revealed to be “A.” Archie and Angela’s hidden biological father, Principal Marshall Clanton, gave the order because he wanted to punish the moms and their daughters for how they had treated Angela. Even though Imogen and the girls defeat Clanton and “A,” the end of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season 1 left many unanswered questions.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 1 Ending Recap
A flashback reveals that Davie went against Angela after she told him that Tommy, her boyfriend, had sexually assaulted her. Davie made the decision to “eliminate Angela Waters by making her invisible,” as well. However, Davie’s invitation of Angela to the iconic rave was the icing on the cake. Davie changed, according to Imogen, but Principal Clanton didn’t seem to care. He still wants Davie to pay for it with the loss of Imogen. He does, however, give Imogen a head start because she is pregnant. Archie chases her as she runs outside, but while she does so, she begins to labor. Principal Clanton explains that he intends to blame Sheriff Beasley for everything.
Kelly then tells that Sheriff Beasley is prepared for what is to come. Following the uproar, Principal Clanton shoots Greg before being hit in the head. Archie is attacked by Imogen, who eventually manages to kill him by stabbing him. While Principal Clanton and Chip have both been detained, Sheriff Beasley and Archie (Creeper) managed to survive their attacks, which then cut to Imogen in the health center after giving birth to a baby girl.
Imogen goes to her mother’s grave after she is reburied in the final scene of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. When everyone gathers to celebrate Christmas, Noa’s mother discloses that she will be entering rehab, while Mouse’s mothers disclose that they will be attending couples therapy. However, Imogen and Tabby decide to file charges after learning that Chip has been granted bail and returned home. Just as Imogen declares that she thinks it’s finally over, Sheriff Beasley is stabbed to death in the hospital, and A pursues Chip as the credits roll.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 2 Release Date
There hasn’t been any official announcement about Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season 2. HBO Max released a promo a week prior to the release of the season 1 finale, referring to the conclusion as the “series finale,” which immediately alarmed fans. Fans expected the worst, thinking Original Sin had already been canceled, given the uncertainty around HBO Max’s original shows and the shows’ futures. Even though there were no decisions on a renewal, HBO Max later claimed that the error had been fixed and that it should have said “season finale.”
Original Sin, the Pretty Little Liars spinoff from HBO Max, was first announced in September 2020. Filming didn’t start until the summer of 2021 because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and the show didn’t premiere until a little under a year later. It’s possible that season 2 will premiere in the late summer or early fall of 2023, depending on how fast a season 2 announcement is made. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season 2 could be delayed until late 2023 or early 2024 as a result of the upcoming changes with HBO Max, although this will ultimately depend on Warner Bros. Discovery and if they believe in the show.
The risk of HBO Max shows being canceled has increased after it was revealed in early August that HBO Max and Discovery+ will merge in 2023. The likelihood that Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin won’t succeed is therefore, very strong. Having said that, you just never know, and with a huge, interconnected universe to explore and a devoted fan base, there are plenty of reasons to keep the show going.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 2 Cast
This will depend on the direction the show’s writing staff decides to take it. On the one hand, they can go back to Millwood and close the gap with our new liars while expecting something fresh. All of the survivors from the ending – Tabby, Faran, Noa, and Mouse – would likely continue to be the focus of the cast in season 2. Madison says, “Dynamically, I’d love to have the Liars come and just be together for a lot more.” The actor would like to see the group not only investigating new mysteries but also simply hanging out in the cafeteria or joking around with Tabby about movies.
The same is true of their families, which includes Davie, who might reappear in flashbacks. Another important character, Kelly Beasley, played by Mallory Bechtel, may make a comeback in season 2 now that she is a friend of the core characters. The masked killer from Original Sin might return for season 2, given that “A” escapes from the hospital in the cliffhanger finale of season 1. Given that Aria and Ezra are adopting Imogen’s child, there is a possibility for a Pretty Little Liars crossover as well.
If you watched the finale, you are aware that some well-known characters won’t be coming back. For instance, before the season’s end, Sheriff Beasley (Eric Johnson) and Chip (Carson Rowland) were attacked. It is unknown if Principal Clanton (Robert Stanton), who was guilty of planning to torture the Liars and their mothers in order to get revenge on his daughter, will make another appearance. However, given how tightly the plot is wound up, there is a possibility that the show might grow into more of an anthology, similar to American Horror Story. Expect a completely new cast of stars if that occurs.

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin Season 2 Plot
The majority of the season one storylines were neatly wrapped up and prepared for the Liars to move on with their lives, as we just mentioned, leaving very little room for interpretation. However, given that this is Millwood, who can predict what will happen next? Archie, a mute killer, escaped from the hospital and is currently at large; however, without Principal Clanton to guide him and pull his strings, Archie is on the lam. This Archie, however, is somewhat of a tragic person who was forced to leave at a young age because he “had a face only a mom could love.”
However, he did have a strong protective nature toward his sister Angela, who committed suicide as a teenager after being sexually assaulted by the now-Sheriff Beasley. Because they didn’t want to accept that Beasley, who was dating Madison’s mom at the time, was a rapist, she was expelled from her friendship group (the moms), which added an extra painful twist to the situation.
In the closing seconds of season one, it appears that Archie made the decision to use his killer instinct to hunt down the town’s rapist men. After stabbing Sheriff Beasley to death in his hospital bed, Archie then made a beeline for Chip’s house, who had been released on bail for the holiday season while waiting for trial for the molestation of Madison and Tabby. Given that he is no longer ruled by his ruthless and cruel father, might Archie genuinely take on the role of a vigilante and protect the girls?
It seems that whereas season one was entirely focused on the mothers, season two might be much more father-centric. They are not entirely innocent themselves, after all. Kelly will need to adjust to life without her aggressive father, the sheriff, who is no longer alive. Finding Mouse’s biological father is probably going to be a top priority for her. After it was discovered that Corey had her daughter undergo surgery that wasn’t necessary, Faran’s father will likely feel sad, and the other Liars’ fathers are, at best, absent. But if they choose the anthology road, all of this might be ignored, and who knows where they could end up?
