So You Think You Can Dance Season 17 Episode 4 Recap
Only the best are left after thousands of online submissions and hundreds of auditions. Forty-two candidates had advanced to the Choreography Round, where they discovered that the competition would only become tougher from here on out. Mandy Moore was on hand to assist with this round and coordinated the contestants’ performances. Some people bled. Some people gained confidence.
All were created to compete before the judges, and Contemporary was up first. Everyone, even those who didn’t usually dance that style, had found themselves dancing Contemporary, and some had found their place in the spotlight. Others, though, did not.
The first group to take the stage was incredible. Nobody was taken out. The judges refused to eliminate anyone until they came across a specific group of girls and were compelled to do so. Madison and Maci did not practice the dance. They were struggling to keep up with the others. Sure, competing in the show was their goal. But they were not prepared. The judges eliminated them, but they might return the following year.
The judges quickly worked their way through the Contemporary group, and it was soon the Hip Hop genre’s turn. Even though the initial batch of competitors were all Hip Hop dancers, someone managed to disappoint.
Brianna’s Solo Dance
Brianna was instructed to prepare for a solo since she needed to return to dance for her life. During this round, twelve contestants were eliminated, most of whom were not from that genre. Brianna had something to prove when she returned. She had to dance for her life, and she was able to demonstrate the hunger that had brought her this far.
Two of the three judges opted to retain her in the tournament, but she still needs to do better, and this round was far from over. Pairings were the following genre. It was one thing to perform well solo. Dancing in a pair was an entirely different beast. As a result, partners have an excellent way of testing each one.

Elimination Time
However, eliminations continued to occur. There was no getting away from that. The judges chastised those who felt lost in the dance or did not stand out. They debated who should stay and who should leave. And the episode stopped before they were scheduled to determine the top twelve!
