In the future, new technology has come out. People are talking about a strange phenomenon everywhere, social networks are carrying the rumors regarding this. This strange phenomenon is being called ‘Hologram Ghosts’. The show’s protagonist is Hiro Amanokawa. He is a middle school freshman studying at Hazakura Academy.
One day, Hiro activates a strange device known as Digivce, which was left by his father. The Digivice enables its users to summon/make unknown mysterious creatures called Digimon. These Digimons cannot be seen by ordinary people, while Hiro can easily see them.
Hiro takes up the responsibility of Gammamon, a Digimon his father gave to him. He gets entangled in strange situations. Many mysterious beings- a man with a sewn mouth who can steal time from people, a mummy wandering at night and kidnapping humans, start appearing. Hiro and Gammamon, along with his friends Kiyoshirō Higashimitarai and Jellymon, and later Ruli Tsukiyono and Angoramon, begin their adventure into this world full of mysteries.

The 27th episode, titled “Monster’s Beauty Serum” begins coldly with a murder of a girl by a hologram ghost. We then see Hiro, who is researching urban legends. Hiro wants to determine if any legend is caused due to Digimon. Gammamon wants more ice, so Hiro and Gammamon go downstairs to fetch some ice. There, the school’s receptionist is attacked by the Splashmon. Splashmon takes a humanoid form after attacking the girl, and Gammamon leaves from there.
A piece of water from Splashmon is left behind, using which Hiro and his friends track him to an aquarium. But the villain is already gone before they can seek him out. They are finally able to locate Splashmon in a ship. Splashmon attacks the group and taunts Hiro. Gammamon evolves into BetelGammamon. Splashmon turns BetelGammamon into the water, and the group retreats. Hiro tells Ruri that they should go to a snowfield since Splahsmon won’t be able to turn back to water there. SymbaraAngoramon freezes Splashmon, which results in all the people captured by Splashmon coming back.
Splashmon can break all the ice quickly. Suddenly BlackTailmon arrives with Moosemon and takes Splashmon away. Hiro gives BlackTailmon a letter to deliver to his father.
