EPEX boyband’s agency C9 Entertainment responds to the controversy related to their song Anthem Of Teen Spirit. According to netizens, some portion of the lyrics indicated the Kristallnacht, a violent incident that took place between the Nazis and the Jews. Twitter was filled with tweets as fans demanded an apology from the company not only for the lyrics but also for the fashion sense. The lyricists and the composers also received comments about the issue.

The agency also mentioned how the songs carry references not only from literature but also from other scientific theories along with films as well. EPEX Agency Responds To Controversy Over New Song
The South Korean boyband EPEX got engaged in a controversy regarding their new song. Their entertainment agency, C9 Entertainment, recently released a statement that mentioned that though they take responsibility for the situation, however intentions were not to hurt anyone’s sentiments.
The problem started with the lyrics, and even the costumes of the song came under fire. According to the statement, this particular was based on George Orwell’s book ‘1984’. Besides, EPEX’s music videos are based not only on literary sources but also on films and physics theories, among others. ‘Anthem Of Spirit’ is the title song in EPEX’s 3rd EP album, Prelude of Anxiety Chapter 1, 21st-century boys.
The lyrics of the song point out the mechanized education system of Korean society, the wrath of which the younger generation is facing. Taking into consideration the plotline of 1984, it focuses on the real-life incidents that youngsters have to go through. The main problem arose when the lyrics Crystal Night came as, according to the people, it’s related to Kristallnacht. It was a violent riot indicated against the Jews and was carried away by the Nazi party.

Agency Receives Flak For The Fashion In Anthem Of Teen Spirit
The call-out was not only for the lyrics but was also towards the fashion in the MV. According to the mass, the alleged MV has costumes that represent the historical event. However, the agency made a statement that the costumes had nothing to do with it. It was made using the mood that the novel provided and has no connections with the actual event.
After the MV was released, the lyricists and composers of the song were getting a lot of texts regarding the issue, and for this, the company has clarified that the final lyrics were done entirely on what the company wanted. Lastly, they ended their statement by once again apologizing to the people whose sentiments got hurt.
