Long-awaited TV shows, movie premieres of the latest releases, and critically acclaimed creators are coming to HBO Max this time around. As we head towards the April of 2022, HBO Max is bringing the highly-awaited third season of Barry and premiering movies like the Night House along with new Original TV shows like Tokyo Vice to look at. Also, as we take note of the revival wave lately, even HBO Max has one on its hand as well. A sequel to a Nickelodeon show is joining the platform this month.
So here we are breaking down everything from TV shows to movies to reality shows and documentaries that are coming to HBO Max in April of 2022. To begin with, we will shed a spotlight on some of the content that is worth looking at this month. Then we will head towards the entire list of content coming to the OTT platform.
TV Shows & Movies Coming To HBO Max In April 2022: Tokyo Vice: April 7
Tokyo Vice takes us back to the 1990s. The show sees American journalist Jake Adelstein joining Tokyo’s major Japanese newspaper. The first foreign-born reporter finds himself diving deep into the secrets of the Japanese Yakuza as he is aided by an experienced detective.
Tokyo Vice takes inspiration from Jake Adelstein’s 2009 book of the same name. Created by J.T. Rogers, it stars Ansel Elgort as Jake Adelstein. Joining Elgort will be Ken Watanabe as Hiroto Katagiri, Rachel Keller as Samantha,and Ella Rumpf as Polina.
Close Enough Season 3: April 7
The adult animated sitcom created by J. G. Quintel, which was doomed earlier because of various delays made its presence felt on HBO Max with the first season on October 25, 2021. It instantly received positive reviews. With the same spirit, the third season of Close Enough arrives on the platform.

Close Enough tells the story of the couple named Josh and Emily, and their daughter Candice. Living in New York with their divorced friends, Alex and Bridgette, they tend to face regular day-to-day problems that sometimes escalate to another level.
The Night House: April 8
David Bruckner’s psychological horror film The Night House tells the story of Beth, who is still moving on from the unexpected death of her husband. Alone at a lakehouse, he built for her, she starts experiencing something supernatural throughout the night. By the morning, there is no trace of that supernatural activity to be found. Hoping to look for answers, Beth dives deep into the history and belongings of her husband.
The David Bruckner directorial stars Rebecca Hall in the lead role of Beth. Joining Hall are Sarah Goldberg as Claire, Vondie Curtis-Hall as Mel, Evan Jonigkeit as Owen, and Stacy Martin as Madelyne. Coming from Anton and Phantom Four Films, the movie originally premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2020.
A Black Lady Sketch Show Season 3 Premiere: April 8
Robin Thede is back with the third season of A Black Lady Sketch Show. It also marks the return of Gabrielle Dennis, Ashley Nicole Black, and Skye Townsend as they join in for various sketches throughout the six-episode run of the new season. The show has met with universal acclaim and has also been nominated and won various awards throughout its first two seasons. We expect the same to be followed for the brand new third season.
The Flight Attendant Season 2 (Max Original): April 21
The second season of The Flight Attendant sees Cassie living a sober life in Los Angeles. At the same time, she will also serve as an important asset for the CIA. One of the assignments leads her to come across another murder she finds herself involved in another conspiracy.
Steve Yockey’s comedy-drama brings back Kaley Cuoco as she reprises her role as Cassie Bowden. The other returning cast members include Zosia Mamet as Annie Mouradian, Rosie Perez as Megan Briscoe, Griffin Matthews as Shane Evans, and Deniz Akdeniz as Max. Lastly and more importantly, Sharon Stone is one of the new faces joining the show. She plays Cassie’s mother, Lisa Bowden.
Barry Season 3 Premiere: April 24
Barry’s third season is probably one of the most highly-awaited titles on this list. The official synopsis of the new season suggests Barry may find himself moving away from the world of contract killing. Hoping that he will completely dedicate his time to his passion for acting. Barry may have gotten rid of all the things that turned him into the killer, but a killer still lives inside him. Created by Alec Berg and Bill Hader, the third season sees Hader reprising his titular role.

The Baby: April 24
A British Horror Comedy created by Siân Robins-Grace and Lucy Gaymer. The Baby tells the story of 38-year-old Natasha. When she finds herself taking care of an unknown baby that lands in her hands out of nowhere, her regular life becomes a huge drama. For someone who doesn’t want a baby, life is more of a horror movie for her now.
We Own This City: April 25
We Own This City is a mini-series that comes from the creators of The Wire. It follows the story of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force, how corruption came upon the city, and how drug prohibition and mass arrest took over the police work. The mini-series takes inspiration from the book of the same name by the book by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton.
Created by David Simon and George Pelecanos, the show stars Jon Bernthal, who is popular for shows such as Marvel’s The Punisher & The Walking Dead. Jon Bernthal plays the role of Sgt. Wayne Jenkins is one of the central figures of the Baltimore Police Department and Gun Trace Task Force.
The Survivor (2021): April 27
The 2021 biographical film directed by Barry Levinson sees Ben Foster picking up the role of Harry Haft. The man who was sent to Auschwitz. He managed to survive them by boxing his way out with his fellow prisoners. Joining Foster, the movie also stars Vicky Krieps as Miriam Wofsoniker, Billy Magnussen as Dietrich Schneider, Peter Sarsgaard as Emory Anderson, John Leguizamo as Pepe, and Danny DeVito as Charlie Goldman.
The Garcias: April 14
A sequel to the Nickelodeon show The Brothers García, The Garcias tells the story of the titular family from San Antonio, TX. It follows their adventures at their own fancy beach house in Mexico, which they are visiting for summer vacation. Jeff Valdez and Sol Trujilo created the show. It stars Carlos Lacámara, Ada Maris, Jeffrey Licon, Bobby Gonzalez, Vaneza Pitynski, Alvin Alvarez, Oliver Alexander, Nitzia Chama, Maeve Garay, Elsha Kim, Ayva Severy and Trinity Jo-Li Bliss.
