The manga Inuyasha was created by Rumiko Takahashi and was published by Shogakukan publications. An anime adaptation of the manga was created that was released back in 2000 but is very popular to date. The series consists of 167 episodes centering around the protagonist Inuyasha. In modern-day Tokyo, there lies Kagome Higurashi, who one day gets transferred to a parallel world that seems to be in the past. The plot of the series Mushishi is set up in an imaginary world that lies somewhat in between Edo and Meiji Periods. It keeps in the center a ubiquitous creature that is called Mushi. The creature often displays supernatural powers and belongs to other primitive species like fungi and bacteria. The main character of the series is Ginko, who employs himself as a Mushi master and travels from place to place to research Mushi. Afro Samurai is an action, period piece, and post-apocalyptic-based anime series. It was released as a manga series and was published by Self-funded doujinshi. A very short anime adaptation of the manga was released with only five episodes that adapted the one whole volume. The plot of the series is set up in a feudal yet futuristic Japan where a person with the number one headband is the greatest warrior. The protagonist of the series, Afro, wears the headband of number 2 and kills a group of assassins, criminals and mercenaries, and a lot of other people.
4. Berserk
Berserk is a 2016 anime series based on the manga by Kentaro Miura that goes by the same name. It’s a reboot of the anime adaptation of the manga that was originally released in 1997. Berserk is directed by Shin Itagaki and was produced by Liden Films, GEMBA, and Millepensee studios. In the storyline of the series, the protagonist Guts, “Black Swordsman,” was once a wandering mercenary. Just like other series in the list, it is also set up back in ancient times. 1. Young Black Jack
Young Black Jack is the last one on our list, also known as Yangu Burakku Jaaku. It was initially released as a Japanese manga series by Yoshiaki and illustrated by Yugo Okuma. The manga was published by Akita Shoten and was serialized in Young Champion manga magazine. It was released on 22nd November 2011. Later, it was adapted into an anime series that was released on 1st October 2015. Till 17th December 2015, its released a series of 12 episodes whose plot makes it similar to Dororo.
The plot of the series is set back in 1960 keeps Kuroo Hazama, a gifted medical student, in the center. He is a brilliant surgeon and attracts a lot of attention as he performs many difficult surgeries. Kuroo tags along with his friends Maiko Okamoto and Yabu while he is caught up in some circumstances and ends up making him Black Jack.
