Julia’s first season was successful because it did not strive to be a historical specimen. It transformed Julia Child and the others in her universe from biographical sketches to fully developed characters in its account of how she came to transform American cooking.
It helps that several seasoned performers in the cast can handle both comedy and drama. In the lightest possible way, Julia struggles to duplicate her first achievement at the beginning of Season 2.
After seeing Simone “Simca” Beck, a friend and co-author, Julia rides a bike back to Simca’s house, where she stays with her husband Paul and Simca’s husband while they brainstorm recipes for their upcoming book.
The two of them aren’t getting along very well because whenever Julia tweaks a dish to make it more appealing to an American audience, such as replacing goose in a cassoulet with chicken, Simca outrages, saying that Julia isn’t cooking French cuisine.
Julia Season 2 Episode 7 Recap & Review
Before diving into Julia Season 2 Episode 8, let’s quickly talk about the show. “Shrimp & Grits,” the seventh episode of Julia Season 2, explores the impacts of marginalized women. Julia and Alice are examples of successful women in the spotlight. Their brilliant brightness has been visible to us for two seasons.
But it’s equally fascinating to observe how women like Zephyr Wright shape this society in the background. We see their impact on the world and are sad not to provide them a seat at the table.
It depicts Alice and Julia being denied a spot at the White House supper. Julia learns her lesson from the entire experience. She is somewhat protected from the hard reality that women still do not receive their fair share of recognition, thanks to WGBH. This could increase her empathy for Elaine.
It doesn’t appear as though the character will have enough time to make a comeback before the finale. It might inspire Julia to fight even harder—not only for herself but also for those women who are still marginalized and overlooked.
The episode “Shrimp & Grits” is about overcoming hardship with determination. It also highlights the ladies who perform in supporting roles and those who mumble. It sends a very strong message that everyone can make a difference in the world without being famous.
This episode features both significant losses and wins. In a cunning move, Julia makes us like Stanley. This makes it all the more unexpected when he dumps Avis for a cheap affair, I mean no disrespect to Stacy. Before it could reach its true potential, the blossoming romance was destroyed.
Still, “Shrimp & Grits” has some of the funniest scenes because of Avis’s sadness. Even though Stacy is a mess, Avi should be her mentor. It can only result in more amusing exchanges. A lot more happened in previous episodes, but now let’s discuss when Episode 8 of Julia Season 2 will be released and what will happen in it.
