The documentary series Coach Prime is a show set around the college football scene, focusing mostly on the football head coach, Deion Sander, who goes by the nickname Prime Time, among fans—the show’s first season followed the head coach’s footsteps, no matter where he went.
Sanders was the head coach for the Jackson State University Tigers team, and we got to see his life on and off the field, in the locker rooms, pumping the team up and guiding them in times of crisis.
Season one of the series introduced fans not just to Sanders, the coach, but to Shedeur Sanders, Andre Hart, Trevor Reilly, Shilo Sanders, Gary Harrell, Travis Hunter, and many others.
The show was originally put out in 2021 as a six-part documentary on Barstool’s YouTube channel, and it captured Sanders’ first year as the head coach for the team. Barstool ended up releasing a full-blown second season later.
Prime Video ended up announcing another four-part season to the documentary, which eventually came out in late 2022. In August 2023, another new season of the show was confirmed for release, and SMAC Entertainment, which made the first-ever season of the documentary, even managed to get the University of Colorado to let the crew on the campus film the documentary series.
To avoid confusion, we call it the second season of the documentary because we are talking about Prime Video‘s second season of the original docu-series. If we include the Barstool’s original series as well, then the upcoming version would be the fourth season of the show.
Call it whatever you want. Fans are excited about the series and what it holds for them, either way. So here is all you need to know about the first episode of the second season of Coach Prime.
The Plot
In the last season of the show, we followed the Jackson State University Tigers team and their head coach, Sanders, at the SWAC championship, where the team came out on top and remained undefeated. Though the team did well at the annual championship, they did face a water crisis that had to be immediately dealt with in Jackson, Mississippi.
While fans go to witness Sanders’ leadership and relationship with the team members, fans are excited to find out more about the 2023 Colorado Boulder program that the show is all set to focus on in this new season. This season will have us witness Sanders’ first full year with the CU Boulder program as he works to tune the program itself.
The season will have his sons, Shilo and Shedeur, who will join their father’s side in the university along with former teammate Travis Hunter. for a brand new exciting season ahead. With a promise of some never-seen-before footage of all that happens backstage and away from the camera, the trailer of the show managed to get fans all riled up and eager for the new season.
