Given that the majority of the couples on Married at First Sight season 8 appear to be dissolving over time, it’s possible that some of them made a mistake by getting married to strangers. Most couples are on the verge of breaking up after the penultimate dinner gathering.
In Channel 4’s dating reality series Married at First Sight, a group of single people are matched with one another by “relationship experts,” who conduct personality tests and match them with spouses.
In order to determine whether or not they are compatible, the couples must go through a battery of tests after meeting just minutes before getting married. With the most episodes of any season, the eighth season of MAFS UK ensures that we see more of the couples’ behind-the-scenes interactions.
Recap
By the conclusion of MAFS UK, we have witnessed the couples getting ready for and attending the dinner that follows the penultimate commitment party. The final straw for Peggy to quit her relationship with Georges was learning that he was sending recordings of himself to other people.
Bianca and Nathaniel left the show on their own; however, Luke and Jay were taken out of the MAFS experiment. The Luke-Jay duo was eliminated from the show, but they continue to be together off-screen.
Nearly every other couple decided to stay in the experiment and give their romance another opportunity during the penultimate commitment ceremony. The unexpected partner swap that followed exposed problems in relationships that had been going strong from the start.
At the penultimate dinner party, where the men and wives made sure to point out discrepancies in each other’s relationships, many reached their lowest points and considered ending their marriages.
The remaining MAFS couples were able to stoke further flames, thanks in large part to the anonymous letters. The Homestays will be the next experiment on Married at First Sight UK now that season 8 is almost over.
The couples participated in homestays in Episode 28, a staple that concludes each MAFS season. In a homestay, married couples reside in each other’s houses, either by themselves or with their parents.
This allows the experimental couples to determine whether their relationship is a fairytale driven by the experiment or if it would even survive in the real world. Living together also reveals to couples a variety of previously unknown hidden aspects about one another.
Living together will undoubtedly strengthen some of the relationships in MAFS season 8, but for other couples who find it impossible to adapt to each other’s actual lives, it ends up being the worst thing.
The anonymous letters make the group confront some difficult realities, which adds an added layer of drama to the penultimate dinner gathering.
As the homestays begin, the newlyweds receive a glimpse of life beyond the experiment’s walls and an opportunity to ask their closest and dearest for advice.
Partner Swap Week, the most difficult job of the series thus far awaits the remaining couples. One pair experienced a low point, and another groom was uncertain about his marriage’s future.
Spoilers
These indecisive couples may need to make a decision quickly because of the impending commitment ceremony and final decision. While the majority of the couples from season 8 of MAFS appear to get along, there may be more “noes” this time due to conflict and tension in other relationships.
As the couples attempt to integrate into one another’s lives, the homestays go on. Some couples develop closer relationships with their partners, but for some couples, the demands of the outside world are too much.
