Discovery’s newest documentary series, The Garden: Commune or Cult, features an exciting look into the lives of people living on a 75-acre land away from any town or city. Besides showcasing the way these cult-like communities work, we also get to see how new members are welcomed at the commune without any discrimination.
Many strange rumors surround “The Garden,” an off-the-grid community. To clear these rumors and provide a look into the actual lives of The Garden community, the members have opened their doors to cameras and are willing to show what a day in the community looks like.
Off-the-grid living isn’t for everyone, and through this Discovery show, we get to see how it’s done correctly. New visitors and future members will be showing up each week, adding more intrigue to the reality series.
Recap
The Garden began its first episode by introducing us to their way of living, how they connect to the internet in the middle of nowhere, and how the groups live together without arguing over land or homes.
For the first time, The Garden community was ready to invite Discovery to get an insight into how new members are welcomed and introduced to the rest of the community. However, some members of the newcomers end up on not-so-good terms with the others.
One of the newcomers was Tyler M., a man who was looking for a more peaceful place to stay away from the city. After witnessing the TikTok about The Garden, he decided it was worth a try to see if he could start living with the other members off the grid, too.
Narayah chooses to stay in the commune, even after they end up calling the cops in the beginning. Tyler’s dreams of a peaceful life are put at risk when he finds out that The Garden community has signs of being a cult.
Although he isn’t sure, the cult-like antics raise suspicions within Tyler. Just as he’s settling into the one-of-a-kind community, another Tyler, Tyler C., shows up to live at the commune. Tyler C. is a Christian who strongly believes in the apocalypse and wants to use The Garden as a way to improve his life skills.
Changing his home from Rural Tennessee to the small room at The Garden was a big change for Tyler C., but seeing the way the members live in harmony, he decides that the new change was for the better. By the end, we see new members showing up at The Garden despite the scary news and rumors surrounding it.
