Directed by Felipe Rodriguez and Alison Reid, the comedy-drama series titled “Hudson & Rex” focuses on Detective Charlie Hudson, a cunning crime detective working for the St. John’s Police Department, and his partner Rex, a German Shepherd with a heightened sense of helping him keep the criminals in check.

Charlie grew up reading mystery novels that resulted in his desire to become a detective and get partnered with Rex, a beautiful K-9, after his former human partner, Grace Lindsay, got killed while pursuing a kidnapper, and the adorable K-9 was set to be euthanized.
Initially released on March 25, 2019, by Citytv, the comedy series stars John Reaedon playing the role of Detective Charlie Hudson, the series protagonist, and Rex’s partner, Mayko Nguyen playing Sarah Turong’s role, the forensics chief, Kevin Hanchard playing Superintendent Joseph Donovan’s role.

Hudson & Rex Season 5 – Recap
The series focuses on the crime investigations led by Detective Charlie Hudson from the fictional St. John’s Police Department’s Major Crimes and his adorable K-9 partner Rex.
Hudson grew up reading mystery novels, thus raising their desire in him to become a police detective, and he does fulfill his desire as a grown-up and gets partnered with Rex, a K-9, after losing his former partner, Grace.
Rex’s keen nose and ears proved helpful to Detective Hudson in advancing his cases. The series starts with Hudson arriving in his hometown, St. John’s, after his divorce from his wife, and the first case he did involved kidnapping.
The second episode has Charlie’s brother getting accused of killing his recent boxing opponent, and the team of Charlie and Rex investigate the case with the possibility of his brother actually being the killer.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Donovan is left to confront his past and present after he transfers an inmate who is his former partner. The next case the duo is handed involves the death of a woman entrepreneur receiving racial threats, with her rival company being the prime suspect.
Meanwhile, Rex gets accused of attacking a decorated police officer, leading Charlie to seek help from his orthodox ally with hopes of restoring Rex’s position. The next case the duo handles involves the death of a game company owner who is killed by nine snake bites.
This case proved to be a bit complex for the pair as there were several suspects with ulterior motives behind killing the owner. After solving several cases throughout the season, it ends with Charlie and Rex attempting to take down a car theft ring.

Hudson & Rex episode 2 will become available for viewers on Citytv on 11 October 2023, at 9:00 PM [E.T.], and will focus on the next case the dynamic duo of Hudson and Rex will handle.
The episode involves Hudson and Rex attempting to stop a pair of armed robbers ripping through St. John’s, by uncovering the truth behind the spree. Charlie and Rex have to piece together the disappearance of a prominent judge with the help of a crime podcaster.
