Who says that the elder crowd can’t get a shot at love? For ABC, whose knack for spinning off The Bachelor and The Bachelorette has made them catch a large audience and following across the years, it is time for a handsome older man to get his chance at love in the Bachelor style.
That’s right, the gist of The Golden Bachelor, where Gerry, our debut and aspiring Bachelor, seeks to find the love of his life and give that lucky lady his rose.
Following a similar structure to The Bachelor, The Golden Bachelor is the most recent addition to that franchise on behalf of the executives from ABC, hosted by Jesse Palmer, we’ll see how this senior man will have a chance to date several women his age to see if he can find a lucky significant other.

The Golden Bachelor Episode 1 Recap
The Golden Bachelor presents us with Gerry in his quest to find true love in the sense and style of the Bachelor; as the show’s motto goes, it is never too late to fall in love. In this episode, we are presented with 22 aspiring women in their golden years from all walks of life who are willing to date this handsome senior.
We meet April, a therapist from Florida; she’s 65. Christina from California, 73, and a retired manager. Edith, 60, also from California and a retired realtor; Ellen from Florida, 71, and a retired school teacher. Faith, who’s also a retired teacher from Washington, is 61.
Jeanie is from Tennessee; she’s 61 and a retired manager. Joan is sixty; she quickly catches Gerry’s eye. She’s a private school admin, and she’s 65. Kathy is a Texas girl with lots of sass and worked in education. As we meet the women, we wonder if Gerry has a knack for administrators.
After that, we meet Leslie from Minnesota; she’s 64 and is a fitness instructor with a rocking body that cleverly masks her age.
Marina is from California, 60, and she’s —yeah, you guessed it, another teacher!—, Nancy is a retired interior decorator from Virginia. Sanda is 75 and a former executive from Georgia; you can’t miss her Southern accent.
Natascha is from New York, and she’s a motivational coach and is 60. Peggy is 69 years old, a dental hygienist from Connecticut, and Anna is a retired nutritionist from New Jersey; she’s 61. Maria is 60, also from New Jersey, and is a Health and Wellness director. Pamela is 75, and she owns a salon in Illinois.
Patty is 70 years old; she’s from North Carolina and has worked for decades in the Real Estate Business. Renee is 67, from Wisconsin, a book author; lastly, Sylvia is from Los Angeles; she’s 64 and a public affairs consultant.
All these women from different walks of life meet and greet and are met and greeted by host Jesse Palmer. Now, the show begins as Gerry must choose whom to take a date with first; after a few talks and dates here and there, Anna, Maria, Pamela, Renee, and Sylvia think that Gerry isn’t ideal for them, and they are out. The first rose went for Faith.
