With so many eyes on the series and fans’ curiosity growing, let’s take a look at all that we know about The Worst of Evil Episode 1, from story to cast to future releases.
Everything we know about The Worst of Evil Episode 1
The first thing about this show that caught the attention of many is how interesting the choice of actors is. The three main roles are being played by Ji Chang-Wook, Wi Ha-Joon, and Lim Se-Mi, undeniably stalwarts in the industry. If that wasn’t exciting enough, singer Bibi is also playing a highly important character in the series.
The story follows the case of a newly emerged drug trafficking ring in 1990’s Seoul, which is gaining power far too quickly. Having caught wind of this issue, the police figure out what the head of the cartel, Jung Gi-Cheul (Wi Ha-Joon), a former DJ, is selling- a previously unheard of, powerful substance nicknamed Gangnam Crystal.
This is where the police force finds themselves at a disadvantage- they have no real information on this new drug, and the more they wait, the more widespread its use is already present in Japan, China, and South Korea. With the aim of figuring out the origin of both the drug itself and the trafficking ring, rural police officer Park Mun-Ju (Ji Chang-Wook) is tasked with infiltrating the group to gain as much intel as possible.
Mun-Ju has his own reasons and benefits for agreeing to such a dangerous mission, but all that takes the backseat soon enough. No sooner did the officer begin the operation than he realizes that his wife, Detective Yoo Eui Jung (Lim Se-Mi), has volunteered to participate in it as well.
Unable to shake the thought of his wife constantly being in danger, Mun-Ju takes it upon himself to not only extract as much information as he can from Jung Gi-Cheul but also protect Eui Jung with everything he has. However, with time it becomes clear that his wife appears to have a strange, unspeakable connection to the drug lord, seemingly haunting her from her past.
It’s no surprise that with the likes of dramas like Suspicious Partner and The K2 under his belt, the excitement for Ji Chang-Wook’s performance as a hardened police officer slash-loving husband is only rising. At the same time, Wi Ha-Joon, who is known for his roles in romance dramas like Romance Is a Bonus Book and 18 Again, will be taking on another rather intense and dark role after his appearance in Squid Game. Lim Se-Mi is not far behind, having had experience in a variety of dramas such as Duty After School and Mr. Sunshine.
What’s especially interesting, though, is the fact that we will get to see Bibi act in such a high-production K-drama for the first time. She will be in the role of Hae-ryeon, a key distributor of a Chinese drug factory who is in cahoots with Gi-Cheul and his drug cartel.

As we can see, there are so many elements here that all seem to be somehow connected to each other, and end up raising a lot of questions, too. Both Mun-Ju and Eui-Jung seem to be just as determined to get to the bottom of this evil, and equally fiercely protective of each other.
As the two work side-by-side, they realize that this investigation is dealing with something much, much bigger than they had previously thought. The Worst of Evil is a show that’s bound to get dark, gruesome, and quite emotional as well, so it’s safe to say that we can expect quite the rollercoaster from upcoming episodes.
