In the previous chapter of The Empress Wants To Avoid the Emperor, Duke Vadell’s friend comes to his residence to talk to him but the Duke is unhappy to see the person. He asks him why he was here, and the guy says he has no idea why he came to the residence.
Duke is about to leave angrily when his friend stops him and tells him that someone has been stealing letters from the Rose Palace for the past 10 years. That was why the Empress could not contact Duke Vadell, not because she had forgotten about him or cutting ties.
When Duke Vadell got the news that the Imperial Family had taken away his sister, he rushed to the Capital and ran away from his academy, but it was too late.
