Human Footprint Episode 2 release date is what makes fans curious right now. The series throws light on a documentary series that has been commissioned by PBS for their channel.
It is all about how we, as humans on Earth, are transforming the whole planet due to our existence and various new innovations and expansions. The series also delves into the psychological analysis of us as species and what we actually are.
Shane Campbell Staton hosts the show. He is a biologist and travels the world with the camera crew in order to showcase the impact of humans on literally everything starting from the environment most of all and then the culture of various places. The show has only started airing on the channel last week.
The first episode of the show titled Strangers in Paradise began with a walk down the historical lane where we witnessed the 1890 release of dozens of European starlings in Central Park. This was done by Eugene Schieffelin. He happened to be a member of the American Acclimatization Society. These starlings were initially put in the park to control the insects and bugs in there.
Although, they were not a success because the birds in these parks posed a huge threat because of starlings. Then the episode features other global problems of these invasive species, which are nonnative plants or animals that are shifted from their origin to a new location.
This is all done by humans for some reason or the other, but the act may have a grave impact on the environment or the ecosystem as we know it. This could also disrupt the food chain and cause other complications.
Human Footprint Episode 1 Recap – Strangers in Paradise
Thereby, we see the episode going to various different locations in the world where this has happened. In Australia, humans introduced rabbits which caused the destruction of millions of acres of native vegetation.
And the humans introduced the black rats to the Galapagos Islands, which did not sit well and actually wiped out the entire population of tortoises.
Later in the episode, we talked about the struggles of introducing these new species, which can become really difficult to eradicate once they have mutilated.
They are even tougher to eliminate now, and the only possible solution is to eliminate them all. By the end of the episode, we see some curious questions being raised for the watchers after this detailed view of how the introduction of invasive species can be harmful.
It is not possible to stop the phenomenon from happening because of how there are human connections and trade happening all over the place among continents. There are still questions about how to prevent this from happening or maybe even control it and how to control the species which have already been introduced.
