MasterChef Australia Season 15 Episode 48 Recap
During the pressure test, the chefs challenged Declan, Rhiannon, and Theo to replicate the XO squid dish with scallops and pipis in just 2 hours and 15 minutes, all without a recipe. The contestants, with the exception of Brent, were whisked away to the renowned Bennelong restaurant at the Sydney Opera House.
There, they received an instructive demonstration from Peter Gilmore and his skilled crew on the art of crafting the XO squid dish. Returning to the MasterChef kitchen, the contestants then endeavored to recreate the dish solely from memory.
Declan’s recreation was hailed as nearly flawless, while Rhiannon faced a setback when her XO sauce split, making her dish a touch greasy. Nonetheless, the judges commended her bold flavors and expertly cooked seafood.
Unfortunately, Theo found himself at a disadvantage as he struggled to remove the squid’s membrane, resulting in lost cooking time. As a consequence, his seafood remained undercooked, and his flavors were slightly off. Recognizing the multitude of flaws in Theo’s recreation, the judges regrettably eliminated him as the fifteenth contestant.
