CBS’s new show Fire Country is hitting its climactic moments ahead of the season finale. This upcoming next-to-last episode will provide much context for what’s ahead of these characters in this novel firefighter show as well as bring us lots of emotional moments as the rescuers risk life and limb to save innocent lives from tragic mishaps as well as having to deal with the ordeals of their personal lives.
The last episode was full of tension between Bode and Sleeper. Since Bode sobered up and his old buddy Sleeper is now selling drugs in prison, things are set up in the story arc for some significant changes ahead of the season finale. How is Bode going to cope with the Fire Camp, which seemed to be functional with this drug dealing getting in the way? As we’ll see, Bode will have a tough challenge to overcome if he wants to gain his freedom.
Fire Country Episode 20 Recap
We begin at Fire Camp with Sleeper having beef with Bode and looking for a fight. These two have a history as they used to work in the can and were running things there. Since Sleeper did basically everything Bode told him, that built up some scorn until Sleeper wanted to go his own way. Since Bode decided to sober up after being all those years hooked on drugs, that made things rougher for Sleeper because he was his provider. Still, Sleeper kept slinging in the can to other inmates.
Sleeper’s drug deals are a sure revulsive factor in the Fire Camp because the inmates are busy doing firefighter work, but with Sleeper slinging around that dope, the inmate’s priorities are changing. Bode knows he can’t rely on Freddy, but Sleeper confronts Freddy on the dope deals. After that, Bode also confronted Sleeper about the drug deals, but that didn’t work as he had more leverage than Bode.
Bode Vs. Sleeper Again
Bode tried to get Sleeper to stop selling drugs, but Sleeper cut him with a chainsaw to get back at him. Then, Gabriella was taking care of Bode’s medical needs while Sleeper was quickly making a name for himself. That’s not all, Bode got a beating from Sleeper’s flunkies.
As for Gabriella, she only knows a little about what’s going on because Bode told her. Since she can’t get involved in how the inmates deal with each other, there’s only so little she can do. Gabriella’s advice for Bode was “Focus on yourself”. Bode asks Manny to get the inmates tested for drugs, but the prison has no budget for that kind of thing. Making it a fertile ground for Sleeper’s dope-slinging.
Rescue Time
A group of Girl Scouts got trapped inside a 100-year-old gold mine. The girl scouts got lost, and then the mine started to fall apart on their heads. We move to Vince. His family came to town to spend time with him. We learn that his dad is getting a hip replacement because he fell. Vince’s dad used to be a firefighter and knows about the mines where the girls got trapped. But what he didn’t know was that the mine’s exit was shut with concrete. As a result, for a successful rescue, the crew needed to break the concrete to make its way into the mine. When they found the victims, all of the girls needed to see a doctor.
