Golf is statistically confirmed to be the most boring sport to watch. Be that as it may, Yousuke Kuroda thought differently. Yousuke had written scripts for several well-known animes like Boku no Hero Academia, Hellsing Ultimate, Trigun (Original), Drifters, Highschool of the Dead, Goblin Slayer, and much more. Likewise, Yousuke is the author of this underdog sports anime as well.

Birdie Wing Golf Girls’ Story Season 2 began with an interesting development. We learned of Leo Millafoden’s background in brief. And came to find out he was a professional golfer that happened to have been defeated by Aoi’s father, Kazuhiko Amawashi.
During the Semifinals. Eve and Aoi won their match against the duet from Shizoka Koran, with the most jaw-dropping performance from Eve, surprising everyone on the field by using one of Kazuhiko’s techniques to end the match. With this episode 1 ended with Eve thinking back to this shot and realizing having memories of her past rushed into her head while securing the eagle.
Episode 2 starts with Aoi Amawashi passing out right after she thanked Eve for securing the win, putting Aoi in a dream sequence in which she remembers what her father told her about the true intention of playing golf. Unfortunately, however, Aoi’s passing out could have been due to an inherited disease that was the original reason for Kazuhiko’s death.
Oblivious to that fact, Eve & friends carried on with the preparations for the final match by analyzing the opponent’s playstyle leaving Aoi home to rest. Eve, on the other hand, was overconfident as usual. Could this potentially be her downfall?
Meanwhile, Aoi wasn’t slacking off either, she had some final touch-ups to her technique by Reiya Amuro, after which she was able to consistently hit accurate shots time and time again, making Aoi well prepared for the finale.
Prepared or not, The coming match could be their hardest challenge yet, with Ichina confirming Eva would have to perform the same miraculous shot she did in the semifinals twice in the battle against Himekawa, makes this a challenging task even for the talents of the likes of Eve or Aoi.
Now was the time for the most anticipated match of this tournament arc, with Eve and Aoi finally facing Mizuho Himekawa in the finals. “A swing without uncertainty leaves a rainbow in its wake,” said Reiya Amuro to Eve. For the coach to give this riddle right before the match? What could this mean?
With the match already underway, Aoi’s mother (Seira Amawashi) arrived late to the game, with Eve and Aoi leading at the 9th hole. Contrary to popular belief, team Nada wasn’t much of a challenge for our killer duo. The combined efforts of Eve’s skillful plays and Aoi’s new style allowed them to secure their victory with a flawless eagle shot, giving our leads a shot at the pro tours.
However, the victory was overshadowed by an overwhelming reveal by the end of the episode. When Eva used the rainbow shot to end the match, she was able to view the full extent of the memories she had the last time. Coming to a surprising realization that Kazuhiko Amawashi was none other than her real father. And the fact that Leo Millafoden sought and trained Eva (who now goes by Evangeline Burton) for that very reason.
Birdie Wing: Golf Girls’ Story Season 2 Episode 3: What to Expect?
The episode ended with a lot of questions left unanswered,
- Did Kazuhiko Amawashi have an affair?
- How does Eleanor Burton (Eva’s mom) come into the picture
- What will Eva’s and Aoi’s relationship be like going forward?
- Since they’re step-siblings, is this the end of the growing romance between Eva & Aoi?
Stay tuned for the next episode for the answers to these questions.
