After the release of the recent chapter, fans are really excited to know what is going to happen next in the next time of the story in the brand-new manga series from none other than ONE, yes, the same guy who is responsible for some of the most popular manga series, One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100, REIGEN.
Considering the mangaka’s previous works, fans are looking forward to this latest action-packed release. As the story progresses it is growing its true colors and what the ONE is actually capable of. Today we will let you know when the upcoming VERSUS Chapter 5 is scheduled to be released, spoilers, and where you can read the same online, but first, let us take a look at what previously happened in the story to make sure we are all at the same page.
“Natural Enemy,” in the realm of nature, indicates an absolute predator of a species, like birds to insects, like snakes to frogs.
To win against a natural enemy is impossible, as they are evolved to exploit their prey’s or competitors’ vulnerabilities. Therefore, species have evolved different strategies to deal with their natural enemies. Some species develop physical or behavioral adaptations to avoid or deter their predators, while others have evolved to mimic the appearance or behavior of their natural enemies to fool them. The ones assembled at the sturdy fortress they are the “Heroes.”
The opening of the chapter portrays a scene where the King of the castle is addressing the assembled heroes, and his tone is serious and grave. He announces that the time has come for a final battle that will determine the fate of humanity. The situation is dire, as humankind has suffered for generations at the hands of the “Demons,” who are the dreaded foes of humanity.
The King’s words suggest that the conflict between humans and Demons has been ongoing for a long time and that humanity has suffered greatly as a result. The Demons may have caused widespread destruction and devastation, and the humans have been struggling to survive against them. It’s likely that the Demons are powerful and threatening, and their existence poses an existential threat to humanity.
VERSUS Chapter 4 Recap
By now, almost all of the earth has fallen into the grasp of humans, and areas across the world are under the control of 47 demon kings. In addition to that, reigns above them all is the absolute supreme ruler, the “Great Demon King.”
The demons have invaded and slaughtered humanity to the point where humanity’s prospects of survival can be linked to a single candle flame amidst gusts of wind; at this rate, will humanity be swallowed by the demon army and be doomed to a fate of destruction.
Over these centuries, they haven’t just been covering in fear, they have been singling out people from around the world, who have what it takes to oppose the demon army, using every last bit of humanity’s resources, time, and technology, and HOPE, they have trained the strongest superhuman group.
In other words, the 47 heroes have been assembled at the gate of the castle. The King says that everyone should hear him, but the gramps is going on and on, and from here on out, each Hero is gonna lead their own party and head out to where they have been assigned one of the 47 demon king fortresses.
Then we see different says that this is a good plan, they are not gonna lose this time. The 9th Hero, Bolst, says that with his genius squad around, the rest of them might have nothing to do, but the 19th Hero, Alio, says that everyone understands just how frightening the demon army is; he says that when Bolst was a kid, his village was razed by the demon army, for Fecaccio, it was his parents, Alicia’s dearest lover was taken by the demon army, it is because they all understand, that they have trained to death up to know, and that is why they can have the Bantier, it is a sign of their confidence.
He adds that they should not worry so much like that; if they put on such a grim face, they will scare off the ladies, and they are going to win for sure, but when they notice Hallow, the 11th Hero, they find out that he is super nervous. 11th Hero’s support fairy, Panepane, comes and offers him water and says that if he is gonna puke, he can use this bucket, and he can also rub his back if he needs.
Hallow says that after hearing the speech from King, he felt the heaviness of the responsibility he is shouldering. In his response Panepane says that he is too earnest, he has not hanged since he first joined him as his support fairy at the training school, and it had have been so much if he was the support fairy of a great man like Bolst.
Alio says that it is true Hallow lacks flexibility, but he does not lose to anyone in terms of strength of heart since he has trained by his side all this time; he knows that very well. He adds that the very strength is most necessary for “Heroes”. That is what he thinks. While approaching Hallow, he says that both of them should do their best, take down the great demon king, and give each other congratulatory toasts there.
Half a year later, their mission began, We see Hallow and his team members sitting under a big tree where Panepane gets a report through a pigeon, according to which the 9th Hero Bolst failed to subjugate 9th Demon King Vanigane, and Bolst is dead, the 23rd Hero Fecaccio failed to subjugate 23rd Demon King Diganazaru, and got captured as a lab animal, the 41st Alicia, failed to subjugate the 41st demon kink Vanishukorgi, and is now mind broken, the 30th Hero Liwan is dead, the 10th Hero Macbuk is brainwashed and is now a demon, and the 3rd Hero Abysss is also dead.
One of Hallow’s team members says that it is very shocking the Abyss is dead because he was the one who, in his past, defeated the Lightning Magica Beast, Gora; it is the same news every time; just once is fine, hasn’t there been any news of defeating a demon king. They are wondering how many heroes have left, and if things go like these, they will also be dead in no time.
When they ask Hallow about what they should do, one of their team members, who seems like a mage, replies that after half a year’s journey, their 11th hero party has finally reached the castle of the 11th demon king Jachi. They have overcome hellish trials over these past six months and become stronger, day after day; it is nothing but heroes who have also become strong like them, meeting cruel ends.
Later we see, Panepane is all set to head back home; he says that humanity is finished and the world is done for; no one is dumb enough to face a fight they know they are going to lose, so at the very least, up until the end of the world, he is going to live freely without a cure, and anyone here wants an early death, they can go ahead.
On the other hand, Hallow, after reading the news that the 19th Hero Ario failed to subjugate 19th Nudou, the battle was terminated and whereabouts unknown; he gets really depressed because he was the one who appreciated him before. He says that Panepane is right, no one is dumb enough to face a fight they know they are going to lose; in this situation, even a hard-headed guy here, and he is the one that needs to be that dumb here.
