The most recent game from Squanch Games, the company founded by co-creator of Rick and Morty Justin Roiland, is High On Life. When High on Life was unveiled at the 2022 Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, it immediately caught our attention. It is simple to understand why so many people are eager to play this game, given its Metroidvania structure, absurdist humor, big sci-fi ideas, and its arsenal of talking guns. The video game High on Life will put us in the position of an intergalactic bounty hunter on a quest to destroy an alien cartel that wants to get high off of the life force of humans. What Is High On Life About?
In the absurd sci-fi world of High on Life, humans have been kidnapped by an alien cartel and are being used as a source of alien drugs. You’ll stop in various places along the way, including a lush jungle paradise and a sizable city enclosed inside an asteroid.
Gameplay Details
High on Life is a first-person shooter, so most of the gameplay will revolve around those basic shooting mechanics, but there also appears to be some platforming and puzzle solving. So far, a few different guns from the game have been shown to us. A standard blue pistol, a red knife that can turn into a sort of bungee cord, a green machine gun, and a yellow pistol that shoots dreadful little aliens are all present.
The most recent gameplay trailer displays a boss encounter in which the player must avoid the boss’s beam attacks and use the grappling hook to fly around the area when the platform vanishes. We don’t know much more about High on Life’s gameplay beyond shooting and exploring, though the webpage and Steam page mention something called “Hunter Challenges.”
High On Life Release Date
High On Life will release on December 13, 2022, on Xbox. For the moment, it is an exclusive title on that platform. The title will be available on Xbox X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
