BBC’s new drama The Gallows Pole is a three-episode series that is based on a real-life incident. However, we shall discuss each and every filming location of The Gallows Pole in this post. Ever since the release of the trailer, what amazes the viewers are the sites and the area of the location.
Everything and every scene looks so raw and seems like a complete justice to the plot of The Gallows Pole. Talking of the storyline, it revolves around a guy named David Hartley and his entire team, who were called Cragg Vale Coiners due to obvious reasons.
All of them used to create fake cold coins in Yorkshire history and make a business out of that, and it expanded like crazy. But no wrong deeds ever last forever. Thus, this series depicts his life and what happened. You can watch the official trailer of this BBC drama, The Gallows Pole, below.
It is indeed going to be a very fascinating show which would not only illustrate the fraud done but also how the actions repay. The writer Shane Meadows wants to convey a story to all the viewers about what it took for Yorkshire people to lead the life they wanted for their kids.

The Gallows Pole Filming Locations
The shooting for The Gallows Pole commenced in 2021. Since the main idea was to show the history and the events that took place in Yorkshire in the 18th century, thus, the majority of The Gallows Pole is shot in and around Yorkshire, but we shall look at the places in detail in the sections ahead.
Yorkshire, Northern England
In Northern England, Yorkshire is a beautiful county where this series was filmed entirely. Precisely in West Yorkshire, a very peaceful and perfect village was used to shoot the eminent scenes of the series. The green, sandy, and rocky village is a small village that gave the best essence required for the series.
Many famous shows and movies shot in Yorkshire are Bridgerton, The Confessions of Frannie Langton, Utopia, Transformers: The Last Knight, One Year Off, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Death Comes to Pemberley, Walk Invisible: The Brontë Sisters, Werewolf Castle, My Dad’s Christmas Date, and many others.
Heptonstall, Yorkshire, England
A small village in Yorkshire known as Heptonstall served as a very important filming site for the series. The suitable sites of the village were used, and even some changes were made to make it look more realistic, just like in the 18th century. To be more specific, the streets of Heptonstall were the prime sites used.
All the exterior scenes are shot here only. However, there is an interesting fact! It is about the real-life David Hartley, around whom the whole series revolves. He was buried in this village, and thus what could be more special for “The Gallows Pole” crew?
Nottinghamshire, East Midlands, England
However, other than Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire was another place where the shooting took place. Nottinghamshire is a very beautiful place to be explored, and its specialty, which is the Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, you surely should visit. So, this was everything we knew regarding the filming locations of The Gallows Pole.
