With Rick and Morty Season 6 ending, there is one major question in the minds of all viewers, who the hell is Rick Prime? I mean, you love the show, and I love the show, but they present us with so much information in every episode, and it is okay to get confused once in a while.
If you are just like me, confused about who Rick Prime is, and want to go over the history again to understand the ending even better, let us know. Also, bonus therapy tip: Recovery/Healing starts with acceptance. Repeat after me. I accept I am confused about Rick Prime.
Now that we have gotten it behind us let us focus on this antagonist of the show, which basically started it all. Yes, you and I would not be here discussing who this strange-looking version of Rick is if it wasn’t for him. Turns out that no enemies that we have seen till now are greater than Rick Prime himself.
Who Is Rick Prime?
Without bombarding you guys with huge loads of information about this dude, let me break down in simple steps how the story of Rick and Morty evolved and why the duo will try to hint him down next season;
Rick Prime is the Richest Rick, or the original Rick, who developed and grew through science and made a portal gun to meet with other Ricks in interdimensional space. Rick Prime did not believe in the concept of family, thinking that it only weakens a man and brings his guard down. Thus, he left his version of Diane and Beth in order to find his own path.
After meeting with the Ricks and seeing that they are still attached to their families, Diane and Beth, he starts to brainwash them into becoming more like him: a selfish egomaniac who is drunk on his power.
How Is Rick prime Connected to Our Rick?
Now, this is his background, but how is he connected to Rick, our Rick, the Rick C-137? Well, you didn’t think I was letting go of these steps, did you? Rick Prime approached Rick C-137 with his interests. Although, the latter denied it.
This made Rick Prime, given his fragile ego, become insulted, and as a result, he killed Rick C-137’s wife, Diane, and Beth. Now Rick, who is heartbroken and hurt, heals for a while and finds a portal gun. He hopes to avenge his family one day. But after years of failure, he gives up and decides something else.
Rick now aimed to bring together the other Ricks who have been brainwashed by Rick Prime in an attempt to establish peace among them all. This gave birth to The Citadel. Rick now settled in the original dimension of Rick Prime, hoping that he would come back to his abandoned family sometime, but he actually never does.
Rick starts getting attached to Morty here and even the family. In Rickmurai Jack, he finally reveals everything about Rick Prime to Morty but leaves out the part where he is his actual grandfather.
What Does Rick Prime Want?
It was not until Solaricks when Rick accidents reset everything meaning all the versions will go back to their own dimension, did he tell Morty the truth. Morty reassures Rick that he does not care about Rick Prime because he and the whole family have accepted him as their member.
Throughout the episodes, they accidentally got close to catching Rick Prime but have never done so. Now you get who Rick Prime is and what vendetta Rick C-137 has against him. It is kind of very sorry because initially, we did not believe that Rick would avenge something other than his own self.
It was because the whole concept of Rick Prime got through in his head, and he was trying to act like him. But soon, his emotions toward his family changed him. He is still insufferable a little, but he is way better than we found him in the first season.
Also, having this tragic backstory gives the whole show some newfound depth. What is the purpose of Rick Prime right now, and what does he want to achieve? We will only ever know in Rick and Morty Season 7.
