Based in Stamford, Connecticut, “This Old House” is an American television show which focuses on home improvement. Having a magazine and a website of its own, this brand highlights remodeling projects in its weekly episodes. Created by Russel Morash, this series airs on the Public Broadcasting Service network, which is a network of American television. It was created by the PBS station of Boston and continued its production up till 2001 from 1979. This got transformed into “The Old House venture” after the acquisition of its assets by Time Inc.
Until 2019, the episodes were continuously distributed by the WBGH to PBS. However, after the first episode of season 41 aired, WETA-TV took over WGBH and became the new distributor. Its magazine was launched for the first time in 1995 by Time Inc. “This Old House” also has a sister television show titled “Ask This Old House”. Owned by the old house ventures, these two shows sometimes appear together and are known as “The This old house hour”.
Having commenced for the first time in 1979, “This Old House” has amassed a huge fan following and is by far one of the most popular American television shows. What had originally started as a series with 13 parts has now turned into a brand with people following it from across the globe. The show also has a record of winning 17 Emmy Awards. Having a total of 39 episodes, “This Old House” has had 43 seasons as of 2021 and premiered for the first time on September 30, 2021. The first episode was titled “New England Cape,” which took the audience to a tiny house on a large barren piece of land located in the Country Cape. Constructed in 1880, the house was in definite need of remodeling and reconstruction. The episode dived deeper into the project once the crew members had a draft of their plans ready after their interaction with the homeowners.
The first episode was, however, followed by 38 weekly episodes. Every week, the team would come together and set on their mission to build and rebuild houses. While in some episodes, the crew had to make electrical fixings, in other episodes, they had to come up with new strategies to drain water from the porch.
The last episode, titled “A legacy Restored,” aired on the American screens on August 4, 2022. It was a wrap for season 43 as the crew finished building a home meant for a singleton family into a home of two families.
A show that is based entirely on house projects has successfully kept the audience on edge for 43 seasons so far. From being a shabby-looking place to a place with perfectly structured houses with a touch of modernity, “This Old House” is, without an iota of doubt, worth indulging in.

Following the immense success of the show for so many years now, “This Old House” did not let their fans await the onset of a brand-new season as they are back with another season of fresh episodes.
Season 44 Episode 1 of this American show titled “Welcome to Atlanta” is coming back on the screens on September 29, 2022, at 8 p.m. on Public Broadcasting Service, US, with a run time of 25 minutes.
Season 44 is going to commence with the first black postmaster’s house getting remodeled, following which the crew will move on to Newburyport with the plan of re-building a classic home of New England style. They will further head towards MA to work on Cape Ann Gambrel, which has been existing since 1720.
