The name of the town is Schmigadoon, the town where people live in a musical world, just like in the musicals of the 1940s and 1950s.

What happened in season 1 of Schmigadoon?
The first episode, which was released on 16 July 2021, introduced how love bloomed between Josh and Melissa while kicking the candy vending machine. Four years later, when they find their relationship is no longer filled with happiness and love. To rediscover what they feel about each other, they go on a little trip together, but their life turns upside down when they find themselves in Schmigadoon, the town where people live as they are in musical.
In the second episode, titled, Lovers’ Spat, Josh and Melissa discover that they need to find true love in Schmigadoon in order to leave the place and go back to their real world. Because of this unusual condition, the couple-quarrel begins again, which leads them to break up this time. Soon, Melissa and Josh find someone else from the town whom they get attracted to and try to discover if they are their true love.
The third episode is all about how Josh and Melissa struggle to find their true lovers. Josh, who gets engaged to minor Betsy, tries to cross the bridge with her, but he severely fails. He then again tries with another woman, Emma, but he fails again, which means he is yet to find his true love. Even Melissa falls for doctor Lopez when she visits him to request a job as a nurse.
In the next episode, Josh and Emma Tate, Schmigadoon’s schoolmarm, and Melissa and Doctor Lopez start dating each other. Subsequently, in the fifth episode, Doctor Lopez’s fiancée comes back to the city and takes Melissa for a ride and threatens her a gunpoint, and leaves her in the countryside, where she also finds out that the heart which was given by her to Josh was in her backpack, which Josh assumed he lost. She throws the heart near the lake, which Josh soon finds out.
In the finale episode, Dr. Lopez relocates Melissa and declares his love for her, breaking up with his countess. Even Emma Tate declares her love for Josh. However, the whole journey in Schmigadoon makes Melissa and Josh realize how deeply they are in love with each other. They decide to patch up and walk over the bridge to leave Schmigadoon. However, whether or not they leave the town is not depicted in season 1.

Each new episode of Schmigadoon! Season 2 would release every week on Wednesday on Apple TV+ after the official release of the first two episodes on the same streaming platform.
