Paramount Studios’ Neo-Western drama, Joe Pickett, is all set to air a new episode this week. Western-themed shows such as Yellowstone and 1923 have been a success for the platform, with Joe Pickett being yet another similar show with an intriguing storyline of its own. Unlike the Duttons or other characters, Joe is much more realistic and logical, making the show a hidden gem worth watching.

Directed by John Erick Dowdle, Joe Pickett has been coming out with new seasons since December 6th, 2021. Paramount Studios renewed it for another season by the end of February 2022, which premiered on June 4th, 2023. The main cast consists of For All Mankind actor Michael Dorman, with Julianna Guill, Sharon Lawrence, Paul Sparks, and Mustafa Speaks as the supporting cast. The plot of Joe Pickett revolves around the titular character, played by Michael Dorman, who is a game warden in a small town.

Their town named Saddlestring is surrounded by dense wilderness and forests, owing to the presence of Yellowstone National Park around them. This makes Joe’s job harder as he never knows what kind of problem will be creeping out of these forests into the town. As a conservation officer, he has to make sure that everyone complies with the nature preservation rules, but as we see on the show, things can get much more complicated real quick.

Joe Pickett Season 2 Episode 2: Recap

In the previous episode titled “The Question Why,” we see Joe being shot at by the Grim Brothers, who suspected that he is a government officer. Joe wakes up with excruciating pain in his leg, but what he sees is even more painful as he watches the Grim brothers eat his horse completely raw. They smell Joe and he has to use his shotgun. He successfully shoots Caleb, but the other brother runs away. Joe picks himself up and finds a cabin in the woods, where he sees a woman before passing out.

Marybeth calls Joe’s workplace to enquire about him, but Randy Pope informs her that he won’t be of much help. Back on Bermuda Mountain, Joe is fed a potion by the woman to help ease the pain, who then proceeds to rip out the arrow from his leg. The brothers figure out where Joe could be and head his way. They try to shoot Joe again, but he finds a gun just in time to help him escape from the cabin. Joe rushes through the woods as he hears wolves howling nearby.

Pickett faints once again when he sees a grossly mutilated body hanging from a tree. Joe is eventually rescued by Nate and wakes up to find Marybeth with him at the hospital. The police officers check up on Joe and inform them that the body he saw could have been Frank’s. Marybeth is frustrated at Joe for writing a fishing ticket to those Grim brothers. She then heads home and finds a stranger on the road and helps him. After dropping the man in the city, Marybeth notices that he’s the father of the missing girl.

The police go back to Bermuda mountain, but McLanahan convinces the boss that Joe could have made the story up. They stop the investigation, and as soon as Joe hears about this, he tries to take over the case himself. The episode ends with someone trying to use a sniper at the investigators present on Bermuda Mountain.
