This historic K-drama is set in the Joseon Era. The story mainly revolves around a pretty and bubbly young woman, Gil Chae. She knows how to attract men, and young men are fond of her, too. But she fails to get the love from the men she admires.
Gil Chae, feeling defeated and disheartened, bumps into a mysterious man named Jang Hyun. Jang Hyun was a new face in her viallge. The two just start to have feelings for each other. The Qing dynasty invaded Joseon, which led to a war-like situation. How these two will fight their inner turmoil and get together while a serious war will be going on in their country.
My Dearest: Recap (Spoilers)
In the last episode of My Dearest, Jang Hyun sends the news of Khan’s arrival in Joseon to the court of King Injo. The court comes up with an order for evacuating the ladies and other villagers to Ganghwa-do island as it’s out of reach of Khan.
Whereas, in Joseon, Jang Hyun and Ryang Eum join Khan’s military and hide their reality. Jang Hyun comes up with a plan to go near Khan, and they choose music as the source. Early morning, Ryang Eun starts singing a lullaby, and Jang Hyun plays the instrument. Khan regrets not bringing music from his hometown, so he orders both to come every morning to his court to entertain him with their music.
But Yong Gol-dae Khan’s military officers feel suspicious of Jang Hyun. He beats them to bring out the truth from their own mouth, but at last, seeing them rigid, he believes them.
Meanwhile, a plague spreads in Khan’s base, which makes him impatient, and he sends the order to King Injo to give Joseon in his hands; otherwise, he will start killing everyone. King Injo is confused about coming up with an agreement, whereas Khan sends his men to Ganghwa-do island.
Gil Chae and his ladies also evacuated to Ganghwa-do island and are now in a grave situation. Khan’s military arrives on time and start killing the people mercilessly. Hundreds of women fell to their death off the cliff to keep their chastity.
Gil Chae and his ladies escape the mountain and reach the seashore to board the boat. But it seemed impossible since the boat was sent to take the Crown Prince’s son. Gil Chae coincidentally finds a chance to save the Crown Prince’s son from getting hurt, and thus they demand to get to board the boat.
Gil Chae and his ladies board the boat, but the problem doesn’t end there. Their own military betrayed them and led them in a dangerous way. Whereas Jang Hyun, with Khan’s military, arrives on the island to save Gil Chae and not to execute Khan’s order.
