The american television series Bel-Air is the theatrical reproduction of the 90s hit sitcom drama the ‘fresh prince of Bel Air’ starring Will Smith. Creation of Morgan Cooper, Malcolm Spellman, TJ Brady, and Rasheed Newson, the modern version became Peackock TV’s third most viewed series, greatly surpassing fans’ expectation. The dramatic representation of the original comedy series could have failed but it turned its audiences opinion around and established its own new standing. The characters have not only been revived, but also recreated through the addition of unique layers to their personality, and the actors’ coloring them into new shades to bring novelty to the show for the viewers.
Bel-Air season 2 progresses the story from the first season, but escalates the tension with evolving relationships and amplified drama.

Bel-Air Season 2 Main Cast
We can see the star-cast of season 1 returning for this new installment rejuvenated to reprise their roles.
Jabari Banks acts as Will Smith, his most appraised work till date which has provided him new openings into a hollywood future. Will is a 16 year old teenager whose mother sends him to live with his aunt and uncle in Bel-Air.
Adrian Holmes plays Philip Banks, Will’s uncle who is a lawyer and in the race for the district attorney’s position, while Cassandra Freeman portrays Vivian Banks who is Vy’s sister and Will’s aunt, a tasteful and polished lady with unconventional thinking.
Carlton Banks played by Olly Sholotan, Will’s cousin, former rival moving towards friendship. Favorite of her fans, Coco Jones returns as Hilary Banks, Philp and Vivian’s eldest daughter and an influential social media personality and excellent chef.
Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks returns to play the role of the youngest daughter who is beginning to explore the reasons for her attraction towards girls.
Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey, Will’s oldest close friend, and trusted confidant.
Jordan L. Jones plays Jazz who is a taxi-driver Will happened to meet and connect with, and also Hilary’s love interest in the show. Simone Joy Jones acts as Lisa, another main character who shares on-screen chemistry with Jabari Banks who plays Will Smith, and a student at the Bel-Air academy through scholarship.
Bel-Air Season 1 Recap
Will, an athletic and intelligent kid, is sent by his mother to live at his aunt and uncle’s place in Bel-Air, to protect him from the dangers lurking in his hometown. The posh Bel-Air academy constituting mostly of rich kids does not suit Will’s taste initially as he is unable to fit in while his aunt’s family, the Banks’ begin to get used to his added presence in their lives.
Soon, when Will gets to attend his uncle’s fraternity party he is able to conform and adjust to his new crowd. Uncle Phil’s family helps him prepare his campaign for district attorney’s position, but Will is disturbed when he is visited by someone from his past- his father who had abandoned him. Hilary hosts an influencer event with her family, and later Will and Carlton together throw a big party at the mansion.
Will’s mother visits him and the Banks family on his birthday with no prior notice causing her unanticipated arrival to raise friction on a supposedly harmonious day. Will considers looking for his father and giving him a chance to explain himself- never expecting to find that Lou had been locked in prison. When things seems to be looking good for Will and his father’s relationship, it worsens ending with Lou trying to strangle Will.
His mother and uncle save him and kick Lou out, after which Will also packs up and gets ready to leave after accusing the Banks family of being just like Lou when they abandoned him and his mother in their time of need. Only after speaking with Jazz, who helps him get a broader vision at the situation, he is able to see things clearer. The season ended with the cliffhanger whether Will returns to the Banks family in Bel-Air or not?
Bel-Air Season 2, Episode 1 Summary
Beginning two-weeks after the events that followed Lou’s return and his meeting with Will, we see Will waking up from a dream on a couch in Jazz’s apartment where he has been residing in. He is unable to wrap his mind around all the lies fed to him by the adults who thought they were doing it for his own good. The former nemesis turned friendly pair of cousins is now on better terms than ever after Carson helped Will find out the truth, and Hilary is struggling to run her own influencer house along with things getting more serious in her romantic relationship with Jazz.
Will returns to work hard once again, more seriously, towards his basketball career and to get in the eyes of a famous, veteran recruiter. Though he succeeds in attracting the recruiter’s attention, this man’s intentions are all too unclear and suspicious.
