Everything about Demon Slayer
The Demon Slayer series is an incredibly popular manga and anime created by Koyoharu Gotouge. Initially serialized in the Weekly Shounen Jump from 2016 to 2020, it follows Tanjiro Kamado’s difficult journey to become a Demon Slayer fueled by the loss of his family and his sister’s transformation into a demon. The manga has collected 23 volumes and a loyal fanbase in Japan and internationally, with English versions produced by ViZ Media and Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform.
The initial five episodes, before premiering, were played in Japan and the US over two weeks. The series and the episodes were subsequently re-aired on Fuji TV. In December 2020, a distinctive edition episode including new clips and credits was broadcasted.
During the era of Taishō in Japan, an undercover war between the Demon Slayer Corps and demons continues. These demonic beings were once human beings until Muzan Kibutsuji’s blood transformed them, giving them the ability to prey on humans and use supernatural powers.

To kill the demons, one must decapitate them using Nichirin weaponry, utilize poison extracted from wisteria flowers, or expose them to the soaring rays of sunlight. Despite being mere humans, Demon Slayers employ “Breathing Styles” to attain superhuman strength. The distinguished ranks of the Demon Slayers, known as Hashira, are achieved by triumphing over formidable demons or eliminating numerous lesser foes.
Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke have great character development throughout the series. Their relationship and individual ability continue to grow, giving the series an essence of light comedy to go hand-in-hand with the more intense moments. The pacing of the show is very well done, giving the characters enough time to improve and hone their skills while also allowing the viewers to appreciate each character.
Koyoharu Gotouge goes into detail about the lives of the demons before their transformation, their families, and their struggles. This makes Tanjiro pause at times, thinking about how his sister is going through the same situation. Demon Slayer wishes to make both Tanjiro and the audience acknowledge that some of these demons are just as innocent or deserving of redemption as Nezuko. This makes Tanjiro’s victories somewhat bittersweet.
Unlike much other anime in this genre, with the typical humans winning against demons, Demon Slayer adopts a different approach. Tanjiro and his allies’ primary focus is to accomplish their objectives and move forward with their lives. This refreshing take sets the series apart, particularly when action overtakes the narrative.
